Not sure what the person below is talking about. This is the best school ever. Rivals most private schools and my kids definitely are (so far in the younger grades) receiving the same or better education than friends in private. Principal is present and amazing, and teachers are spectacular. My kids are super happy as are the others I see and I have absolutely no complaints.

This is my sixth year at the school with two children in attendance and we feel very fortunate to be a Roscomare family. The teachers have been wonderful educators and resources for children and parents.During remote school, our teachers were online, to help with small groups, office hours and questions when they were not required to be. My children LOVE going to school and they are thriving. If anything this school’s success is a reflection of teachers, staff and parents working to contribute to our children’s education. The school counts on parent’s participation and financial contributions to remain a top tier school in California. Our new principal Alicia Trent is very present and available for students and parents. She plays music at lunchtime and takes requests from the kids. The new office staff is also pleasant.

I'm only writing to respond to the parent who wrote in on August 26th, 2021 saying how terrible the school has become. (they wrote this on day 10 of the current school year, BTW). I've been at the school for many years and have been close with all the office staff over the years. I do not know what happened to this critical parent, but the CURRENT office manager, who is brand new just a week or two before school started, is the best, kindest person we've had in that seat in many years. We are currently operating without a permanent principal, as are many schools in LAUSD right now. This is a challenging time nationwide in regards to staffing shortages. We have an interim principal. Everyone is doing the best they can. The idea that someone would say that our school is declining - posting 10 days after the start of school in a challenging year - suggests to me that parent has zero patience or understanding and therefore probably can't be taken too seriously.Roscomare's teachers continue to astound me with their ability to go above and beyond and despite all the behind-the-scenes challenges - they put our kids first every day. And, for the matter, the interim support staff that have been assigned to our school have been doing as well as can possibly be expected.

This school has gone completely downhill. There is no Principal or Assistant Principal who is ever on campus. Questions go unanswered, paperwork unprocessed. The school is currently run by a small team of office staff, led by a couple extremely unprofessional people who frequently yell at parents and students for minor or imagined offenses. Going out of your way to mistreat the people who attend, donate to, and volunteer at your school is no way to promote the sort of environment that’s conducive to learning. The teachers are great, but the office personnel are a horror to deal with.

This is a wonder school with dedicated teachers and a strong principal. Last springs opening was successful. My kids loved school and had a great deal of fun. I am looking forward to the fall.

We are so lucky to have this wonderful school and community. 7 years at this gem! There are some incredible teachers who really care and see each child for who they are. There are wonderful kids, wonderful families who help make the school even better. We will miss this school!

EXCELLENT School, Teachers, and Principal. My kids attended other schools. This is by far the best ran school. I wish the hundreds of parents who are happy would tell Great Schools.

Very pleased with Roscomare, my son loves it and we have been here for 4 years so far. I am happy my son gets to have classes like art and music, thanks to fundraising. Lots of parent involvement.

Our experience was beyond negative. We left the school.

My two kids are very happy here. Lovely community with an active PTA and lots of fundraising so school has music, art, computers, PE, etc. despite LAUSD budget. This is a public school with public school class sizes, standardized testing, etc., so those expecting private school will be disappointed. However, for those looking for a strong public school experience where your kids can learn and thrive without the private school price tag, Roscomare rocks.

I feel so fortunate to be at this school. We are just starting our journey at Roscomare, and I have a 4 year old daughter who will start Kindergarten next fall, but we look forward to many wonderful years at Roscomare.

My son attends Roscomare Road School and is in Mrs. Hyatt’s class.  He is a bit introverted, however he is now becoming more adventurous. The principal has been very supportive. As a parent to a 3rd grader in Mrs. Nishida's class, I have nothing but great things to say! The teachers are so supportive, the students are so kind and hardworking, and the principal does an incredible job at regulating the classes and overall order of the school to ensure our children are learning in a positive and enthusiastic environment. The principal is approachable and available; she truly makes an effort at putting our children first. I have no regrets with putting my daughter into this school, and would definitely recommend Roscomare to any prospective parents (especially if you live in Bel Air... mornings are so much easier now that my daughter is at a school of close proximity to our home)!

Very very happy with our experience so far ! My daughter is in TK and we are here thru open enrollment . Our teacher Mrs Long is just awesome. Kids adore her and she is a great teacher. Parent community is very involved and strong a Only downside is traffic but hey this is LA :) and plus the Kiss and rides makes it eaiser.

I am a new parent at Roscomare Rd. - my daughter was also in the Tk class that started with a horrible substitute teacher for the one out on maternity leave. After one week, the principal, Dr. Collier removed the teacher and assured parents that a new replacement would be coming. Within a month, we received Ms. Long-- she was absolutely spectacular and even better than the teachers at our preschool Bel Air pres. We were impressed that she dealt with the situation quickly and found the most incredible teacher for our daughter's class. We are happy to pay the $1000 annual giving fund -- it's nothing compared to private school. This schools community has embraced our family since day 1 and most importantly our daughter loves her experience there and is very much looking forward to kindergarten there. I will say the parking is really tough. I go early or use kiss and ride valet they have set up. They've made it work!

I wonder what the parent who posted March 23, 2017 is talking about. The children sit on the playground for a wonderful all school assembly every Friday morning, and it builds a lovely sense of community. Children do not leave school grounds during school hours and are certainly never "outside the perimeter of the school". Those that can are asked to donate to the Annual Fund. Anyone who bothers to read the many pages of information about the Annual Fund distributed to all parents can clearly see how the funds are used. Heck - you can even look it up on the school's website! The Fund pays for numerous extracurricular activities including art, music, library, science lab, computer lab, the list goes on and on. Super impressive for an elementary school! Roscomare Road Elementary is a California Distinguished School and a California Gold Ribbon School for a reason - it is extraordinary!

We live in the area and we're excited to enroll our eldest for the TK class for 2016-2017 academic year. The week that school was due to begin we received an email that the teacher was on maternity leave and that a new teacher would fill the position in the interim. We didn't like that this information was sprung on us in haste and in such short notice as we'd passed on the private school admission to schools we had applied to in order to enroll our child at Roscomare at the suggestion and advise of neighbors with experience with the school. The first week of school was a disaster. The replacement teacher barely spoke English, she lacked confidence and frankly she seemed very confused! Did I mention that this is Bel Air?? Well every single parent voiced their concern to the principle and she tried to be reassuring but that failed as there was emptiness and lack of sincerety in the words she spoke. Something that bothered me as a parent was that they had assembly for the entire school and the children where asked to sit on the concrete ground outside the perimeter of the school. Other parents expressed similar concern. Not sure what the school is doing now but we decided to remove our daughter from Roscomare and enroll her at a private school we were familiar with and had a vacancy for her for the academic year. The parking and drop off-pick up is a nightmare and extremely disorganized. Cars get wedged in by other cars and unable to leave. The school also asked for $1000 for the 2016-2017 academic year for each child enrolled. Not sure what this is for because they don't offer any extracurricular classes or electives in the school day?? Outside private vendors offer music, art, technology, tennis, etc for a nominal fee. It's a shame that we live in a neighborhood where we work hard to maintain a certain standard of life for our children and the school that we pay for is unable to meet even the basic standards of acceptability and excellence. Even though the school facility is landlocked and unable to build out they still lottery in folks from outside. This is not necessary and we have expressed our concern to the leadership without a proper response. For those who will be enrolling their children at Roscomare, if you have the means and options to look into private schools for better academic and social training of your children, do so.
