The campus is clean. all the teachers are nice and fun.My daughter used to get sick and didn't like to to school when she was in other school but she did very well since we transfer to leport last autumn. So I like it here and will also have my son here this autumn.

Our son transferred to Mirman in the fall of 2022 for Upper School and it has been a night and day experience academically from the (very good) public school he was attending. He is challenged in the classroom as well as in thoughtful and stimulating assemblies and presentations that deal with everything from social justice issues to time travel. His teachers are on par with college professors in terms of their passion and in-depth knowledge of their subjects, and the projects that students are asked to do are some of the most creative and thoughtful assignments I have seen in a school setting: designing playground equipment for disabled children; building roller coasters in science, incorporating speed and gravity-related problem sets to justify why the roller coaster would actually work; history debates on foraging vs. farming. The examples just go on. There are also ample extracurriculars and clubs (robotics, choir, theater) that allow children to explore different areas of interest in a fun environment. A strong emphasis is also placed on socio-emotional development in a way that is acted upon on a daily basis through the guidance of Dr. Dove, the school psychologist. If your child is at all languishing in their current school setting I would highly suggest looking into Mirman.

My son was at Mirman the last three years K-2nd. We left after the 2021-2022 school year for many reasons, as did a significant number of other families. My big comment is that the school has really changed the last five or so years. Alas the highly gifted is no longer the main focus. If you are looking for a stimulating experience for a highly gifted student you aren't going to find it at Mirman. They have lowered the admission requirements. Differentiated learning is not as robust as it used to be. Faculty turnover is a huge problem. The teachers they are currently hiring are young and fairly inexperienced. They certainly don't have a lot of experience with the highly gifted. Privately the faculty will tell you that support from the administration is lacking. In addition, there are many student behavioral problems that are not being addressed. My child was a top student who received high marks both academically and socially. At first it was a very tough decision to move him to a new school. In hindsight it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Please note the dates my son was at this school. Obviously my family is just one family and your experience may be different. If you are interested in applying I recommend taking a deep look at the curriculum and compare it to your other options. Undoubtedly your child will get a better education than most public schools, however the same cannot be said for the top private schools. I believe in areas such as literature and technology, Mirman is actually behind other private schools at around the 3rd/4th grade level and up. Currently, there doesn't appear to be a clear plan on who to take care of the advanced math students. My son had two different math coordinators in the years he was there. The last one left the school when we did. I am thankful that my son was allowed to be in the advanced 3rd graders math class. This group was doing 5th grade work. However, my son then missed out on being with his classmates for another course. He sat by himself doing worksheets while his classmates had their math class. Other parents with older students told me of enduring similar situations.Mirman just announced that the head of the school is leaving after the 2023-2024 school year. I truly hope that Mirman goes back to its mission of inspiring highly gifted children, but alas it won't happen soon enough for our family.

Our kids LOVED attending Mirman. Peace and Social Justice Day is an especially powerful symbol of the commitment that this school has to showing the students that they can make a difference in the world. These are challenging times to be raising children and when I drop mine off at school, I know they are safe and loved and getting an incredible education.

I've been a Mirman parent for the past 8 years and I couldn't be happier. I'm grateful for Head of School Dan Vorenberg's leadership, the wonderful, nurturing teachers and fantastic administration. My 4 children have each received a stellar education tailored to their needs and personality. And even more important, they're embraced by a warm, supportive community. I'm so grateful to be at Mirman.

It's been a fantastic experience for my two sons. Public school was not offering the kind of academic challenges my children needed and Mirman far exceeded our expectations, not just for academic subjects but also in the arts. The theater program is fantastic! So is the design/innovation lab, science/technology, chorale music, sports. It really is an all-around wonderful school and we feel lucky every day that our boys have been a part of it.

Mirman has been a phenomenal school experience for our family, however, it is not for everyone. If u as a parent can get out of the way of your child’s ability to grow and flourish and allow them to experience what Mirman has to offer, you’d be amazed at what is possible. It’s not perfect, but our kids are happy, superior students who love to learn and who consistently LOVE TO GO TO SCHOOL.

A solid C. Lower if I consider the money I've spent.

As a student, I’ve loved going to Mirman. My teachers have all been helpful and I have not had any bad experiences with anyone from the administration or faculty. Every single student I have met there is so kind and friendly. I know that there has been someone going around and saying that there is bullying and that the administration is not handling the situation properly, but that seems completely false. There have been times in the past where there may have been very minor conflicts between students, and they were handled very professionally by everyone at the school. It’s sad that someone who may have had a slightly negative experience wants to go and bash such an amazing school. My years at Mirman have been amazing, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything else.

We feel so lucky everyday that our daughter gets to attend Mirman. It is a beautiful place with a beautiful mission. I truly didn’t understand how underserved highly gifted children are at most schools until we lived through it with our daughter. When we moved her to Mirman this year, we had a completely different child within 6 weeks. Her old spark for learning that had been dulled was back! She was ignited with a great excitement & passion for learning from the state-of-the- art approach, world class teachers, thoughtful administration & like minded peers who share similar interests. I’ve never seen an institution so committed to celebrating the individuality of each child and helping them become their most authentic selves- which as a parent is really the most you could hope for your child. BEYOND IMPRESSED.

We were accepted in the first grade of the school years ago and I gritted my teeth anticipating a cold community where no one could ever possibly relate to "regular" folks like us. What a surprise that we were warmly hugged into a community of those who were so much like us in attitude and in goals. We have no words to describe the love and warmth here ESPECIALLY since Dan Vorenberg started leading at the helm. Mirman has become modernized, warm, accessible and just all around stunning. We have been touring my son's next steps and in all honestly, what he is doing as a "normal" student within this community will still bring him much much ahead of any of the high schools we have looked into. He would have not been happy and neither us anywhere else. We are so lucky and grateful for the administration and community.

As a faculty member and parent of a gifted learner I feel that my child I have found our home at Mirman. Before becoming a classroom teacher here I was an instructional coach in Florida. My family and I relocated FOR Mirman and feel that it was the best decision we ever made. Not only do I feel supported by the administration as a faculty member, but I also know that my child is receiving a high quality education tailored to his giftedness. He loves his school, his only complaint being that we don’t have a high school because he never wants to leave. My experience in the classroom has been exciting and rewarding. I have been supported in designing a learning experience for my students that is centered in best practices in gifted education and driven by their unique interests and talents. It is true that the classrooms are losing a few great teachers, but there’s certainly not an exodus underway. I for one am leaving the classroom next year to take on a new role as the Director of Curriculum and Gifted Instruction. Another beloved teacher, Mr. Barry, was promoted from within as well. I realize that everyone’s experience is different. Since I work at the school and have a child attending here, I have a unique point of view and am able to peek behind the curtain so to speak. Mirman is without a doubt a special place and I feel privileged to be a part of this community.

This school should be billed as a military academy run by a general in charge. If that’s what you’re looking for, a place where you drop your kid and pick them up and have no say on any of the hours in between, then you would maybe be happy here. If you want to be involved in any way, this place discourages parents on campus outside of events at 7. You aren’t even allowed to walk your child into school anymore. This place is an old school sad outdated place that paying lip service to the more preogressive and arty ideals popular here in California.

This school needs to be taken down in its current itineration and rebuilt from the ground up actually using the principles it promotes in its Marketing campaigns. This school has no business treating its tuition paying parents like serfs and employees. This school downs not care about the kids in its stead in a level that is shocking. People are starting to come out of the woodwork with their experiences and a reckoning is coming for the current administration.

Life-changing. Opened my child's world. The peers and teachers can't be found anywhere else. The emotional support is unmatched. We are blessed.

Excellent in every regard. The curriculum allows for students of many levels to engage and challenge themselves. There's a kindness to the teachers and a desire to know each student. They prepare older students remarkably well for middle or high schools. Both veteran and new teachers work to build character and create opportunities for students to learn their way.

This school is excellent as far as providing an education that supports the gifted child. However, it lacks the character to properly deal with discipline issues and bullying from students who happen to also be the children of large donors.
