This school has really improved in recent years and is now the best option for middle school in the neighborhood.

My son started here in the 6th grade. Kids bully kids right in front of teachers and staff. The Language the kids use is unbelievable. Kids cusrse at the staff and teachers. More parents should come to school to see their kids behavior. I am sorry I put my child in this type of environment. Police should be on campus everyday and not just at the front desk.

I was excited to send my son to this school to support his intelligence in science, math and Engineering. However our experience was far from this expectation. My son was bullied multiple occasions including being slapped, tackled by multiple students, clothing removed from his body and Slapped again very hard in the head. He was assaulted while trying to help another student being bullied. As I presented this to the administration, Only the vice principle would meet and discuss with me. The Actual Principle did not, ever. They verbalized their concerns however, I feel my son was not protected nor safe and quite frankly gas lit us blaming that he was the problem. As we retrieved his belongings prior to pulling him out of the school, I accompanied him to his his "homeroom" aka English and Ancient civilization class and while students yell and heckle him, the teacher (whom allowed the physical abuse in the class) remained silent allowing this behavior as well. This school has had 2 "weapon lock downs" within months of school beginning. I have never had such a stressful and heartbreaking experience and I can not expect a child to learn when the focus is on fear and threats of speaking up. I am now proud to say his current school is amazing and he is now in great hands with a wonderful staff.

I attended this school and ended up leaving midway through my eighth grade year. Horrible environment with few good teachers, a decimated campus, and a student population with zero respect for others. Do not send your kids there.

Absolutely disgusting school with no self pride. The campus is gross. What a terrible learning environment. Would never send my kids here.

Amazing music and theater program! Chosen to participate in UCLA after school jazz band, lunch jazz band, drumline, and opportunity for all kids to learn an instrument. Science Olympics and Project Lead the way Robotics courses. Has given my son a wide variety of experiences to find his interests.

I have one graduate from and 8th grader at Wright. Both benefited from the integrated STEAM curriculum, caring teachers, project-based learning and STEAM In Action nights, and a variety of electives. The math instruction has been excellent. The SPED staff--especially the school psychologist--are very supportive. The sports program afterschool is strong and there are themed advisories like weight lifting and arts options. The campus had recent renovations like a robotics room, auditorium upgrades, and other improvements. People worry about fights and bullying but that's actually worse at a nearby middle school. The staff here works with the students and really knows them.

What a waste of resources. My child was constantly bullied at this school. We took our concerns to the principal which did nothing. We ended up moving out of the area to find a better school. The kids are constantly fighting and threatening one another. I'd look elsewhere to get your children an education.

I have been so impressed with Wright Middle School. For context, I have an older child who just culminated from Wright and a younger one who still attends. Both of them have been academically challenged, emotionally supported and have made good friends at the school. Their test scores remain high, and their assignments are appropriate and frequently project-based. Most importantly, the teachers are incredible. So positive, kind, rigorous and dedicated. They, and the amazing administrators, seem truly happy to work there and are a blessing to all of us. There are many academic options from Special Day Classes to Honors classes and even a separate Gifted Magnet. The school has BRAND NEW robotics classrooms and a science lab. They are truly state of the art and I can't wait for the students to be back in school to enjoy them. The principal is responsive, open and clearly invested in the success of the students, teachers, and school as a whole. The teachers try to do what they can, but unfortunately the bullying at this school is out of control due to other kids bringing negative behaviors from their homes and other schools.

I volunteered at this school for one of their anti-bullying programs called Challenge Day and had a fantastic experience. The students, staff and administration were warm and welcoming and I look forward to volunteering again!

This is our third wonderful year at Wright Middle School. Both of our boys have been happy, academically successful, and have made many new friends. The school has really improved over the past several years, thanks to the outstanding leadership. Ms. Wantz is a pro and it shows! The teachers and administation are highly trained, active, consistent, and supportive. The school's focus on engineering and design is aligned with 21st Century skills such as collaboration, communication, and cooperation. The focus on design based learning has challenged our boys to think in new and different ways. The school offers many "extras" too, such as special advisory classes, interesting electives, plus a thriving theater and music program. We also like the diversity the school offers. Especially living in Los Angeles, going to a diverse school has taught our boys to interact and get along with kids from all different socio-economic backgrounds. Even though Wright is a magnet school, and kids come from all over the city, there are many kids from the community that attend. The community presence is getting stronger as well, thanks to a strong PTO and community outreach. I highly encourage community members to visit and consider Wright Middle School as a great middle school option. We are so happy we did!

We are a local family whose son attends Orville Wright. He is finishing his first year and loved it! He is doing great academically and has made many new friends. He comes home from school happy and with no complaints. He is always talking to us about the group projects that he is working on, and we are always really impressed. The teachers are very energetic and motivating. The administration is also very supportive and hard working. I would highly encourage local families to consider this middle school. We are really happy we did.

I could not be happier about how my son has learned and grown in his first year of middle school. He has developed academically and socially with a group of friends that all came from a local public elementary school. Orville Wright has made changes over the past few years, and the current administration and teachers are really trying hard make the school great. My son is a honor student and has received straight A's the entire year, and this could not have happened without being taught by hard working teachers. The elective courses have become much more engaging and interesting now that the school is a full STEAM magnet. My son had never complained about misbehavior or bullying. He is happy and loves his school. Westchester families really need to consider Orville as an option for middle school. Our local public schools really need local support in order for them to continue to succeed.

Our third son is a 6th grader attending Wright MS. Our two older sons we had to pull out of Wright & move because of the extreme bullying & lack of safety concerns by staff. With our third son, we toured all local middle school & he begged to attend Wright. We said "ok" because the school has many new & exciting programs, however, our son is still the subject of much bullying. He is holds a 4.0 gpa, & the teachers are genuinely trying, but the dynamics between the children are difficult. There are too many kids that are mean & hateful for no reason. As an involved parent, it's my job to protect my son & to also make sure his attitude reflects that of respect at school with his teachers & peers. Evidently not all parents in this area hold their children to that same standard. Middle school is hard enough, but my son is best buddies with the Dean in order to maintain safety! We will not be staying. I want my child to be educated but also enjoy his scholastic experience in a safe environment.

PARENT BEWARE!!! The school academics is pretty good BUT the students are TERRIBLE!!! My children currently attendeds Wright middle school and they have been bullied everyday. I wish i could tell you something positive about this school but i honestly can't. The teachers has no empathy for students feelings, some teachers use foul language towards students, the students are extremely rude to adults and fellow peers, the special ed students are allowed to be violent towards other stuents....the list goes on and on. Please save yourself the headache, daily calls and daily trips to school concerning your children safety. It's to the point i have my children school counselor personal cell phone number because of the bulling at school. Thank God 6th grade year is almost done and over with....So i will end my review with Good Bye Wright Middle School and Good riddance!!!

My two children have attend Wright. My son graduated two years ago and I currently have a daughter her. I have always said it is a great school. I have seen how it just gets better and better every year. Both have always been on Honor Roll what that tell me is teachers are doing a great JOB!!! Hip Hip Hurray for the teachers....

I just got back from the STEAM in Action event at Wright Middle School STEAM Magnet. It just reminded me of why we chose to send our kids to that school. All the students have been working on Project-Based-Learning (PBL) subjects. The 6th graders put on a fantastic ECO Fair today. Booths were set up and families could visit each booth and learn about various topics (ranging from environmental dangers to recycling to how they could make an impact by beautifying a planter at their own school). The students did great presenting, were creative, and seemed to have a good understanding of the topic at hand. Not only that, the students looked like they all had so much fun and showed great pride in their projects and booths. People forget that Wright is a little hidden gem in the Westchester neighborhood. It's days like today where I am reminded of how great it is that our kids go to our local school and how great that along with the staff, teachers, and dedicated/involved parents, we are making a difference at Wright.
