My daughter loves PVES and has been there since TK. She is now in 2nd grade and her teacher this year is Dr. Mohazab. Dr. Mohazab is an excellent teacher and I have heard that many other parents feel the same way. She is excited to go to school and STEM within the classroom is wonderful. As an educator myself, I am very pleased.

The parents and community involvement really make this school special. A beautiful green campus with chickens, turtles and a garden. Very diverse and welcoming to all. Great test scores with an emphasis on STEM. New computers and state of the art equipment. Great programs, assemblies, art, music, PE, talent shows, international culture days, color runs, LMU partnership, orchestra and lots of enrichment options. STAR and free Beyond the bell (run by STAR) aftercare. I wish the class sizes were a little smaller and some of the teachers/staff were more engaged but overall a great community school.

Your experience will depend on the teacher, Also by being an LAUSD school, you basically expect to receive less care and attention than from a smaller district. Lots of homework! Teachers expected too much from parents during covid, all while denying it.The curriculum during the pandemic was in my opinion a complete disaster, with less emphasis on the basics (grammar, reading and math for 1st and 2nd graders). Science projects seem to be a stronger focus. Our kids will be behind next year...Nonetheless, I have heard lots of positive feedback about Ms. Q. also Mrs Shahabi from other parents.

We've had a phenomenal experience at PVES - a lot depends on the teacher, we've consistently had great ones with our current second-grade teacher, Ms. Q, being the absolute best. Incredibly committed and devoted with energy and passion during Covid and online learning - she has been a blessing and our child is thriving. Principal Mrs. Johnson is our rock and a complete gem in our tenure over the last three years. We are grateful to have a community school that is free and accessible for all.

This is our third year in PVES and we couldn't be happier. Our son loves coming to school and he continues to thrive in this environment of caring staff and teachers. The teachers have done an outstanding job adjusting to teaching remotely during COVID time. It doesn't go unnoticed that they work extra hours (even late nights on weekends!) to prepare for an unprecedented school year and make it as special as possible for our students. The only change I would implement is to introduce a foreign language to the existing curriculum. That would be a huge plus for me.

It is a good school but also largely depends on the teacher you get, it could make a huge difference in your experience.

Parents are really involved and part of the community, teachers are prepared, experienced and passionate about teaching. The school combines latest tech: kids learn coding, robotics, 3D printing but at the same time they raise chickens and could enroll for culinary classes as an extracurricular activity. My experience with PVS could not be better and it is one of the main reasons we love the community.

Our kids have been here for a year, in 2nd grade and in TK, during a year we have spent in LA for working reasons (we are from Spain).We could not have chosen a better place. The school is totally diverse, with kids from every country or state in the US. The atmosphere is really friendly and it was very easy for our kids to adapt to the school from the very first day. In addition, the school has a lot facilities, they have been using robots, virtual reality, doing science experiments, doing interesting field trips, all over the year. The teachers are great, at least this is our experience with both teachers ours kids had. Finally, the implication of the parents, academic level, guidance, etc, are also remarkable.

The Principal, Mrs. Johnson is an incredible leader. She is devoted to her team of professionals, the students , and parents. Her attendance at all of the fundraisers and parent education meetings [ about common core] ; in addition to her wrangling the with the community and LAUSD prove her exemplary status.

The support from parents, LMU, the community, local businesses and mother nature make this idyllic STEM based school a delight. To get to school each day, most families walk or ride bikes and soak up the wetlands scrubbed fresh air and Platinum LEED certified "school of the future". With an emphasis on ecology, any given day may include a visit from NASA, Google, an Olympic athlete, a local professional sports team, chess, yoga, phenomenal teachers and a stellar principle.

Fabulous teachers, fabulous parents and super fabulous kids. It is a beautiful building, great location with great resources and a wonderful collaborative relationship with Loyola Marymount University.

We are very happy with the administration and teacher. This has been a huge transition for a first time kindergarten family. Feedback from teacher has been outstanding on every level. Feels like a partnership.

Playa Vista Elementary is truly wonderful school. We are now in our 3rd year (14-15) and have had some growing pains over the first 2 years. However, with a new and energetic, engaged Principal, we have seen the STEM Curriculum come into sharper focus and our partnership with LMU has shown incredible benefits. Most importantly our 2 children both attend PVES and love it there. They are offered challenging schoolwork in a supportive environment. Moreover, the teachers are truly exceptional in their credentials, dedication and commitment to our children and the school itself. We look forward to our future years at PVES.

PVES is thriving. Under new leadership, great teachers, amazing parental involvement and a strong partnership with LMU, it is more like a private school, but in a genuine community setting. What a difference a new principal makes. Boosters and parent volunteers make a huge difference too. We feel lucky to able to send our child to PVES.

I have a 2d grader and a Kinder at PVES. I couldn't be happier at this school. It is one of the few LAUSD schools with such a large amount of parent involvement. The community is so involved, its wonderful. The school's new Principal (Ms. Johnson) is fabulous, hands on and works her tail off. The implementation of the STEM program is realized daily. These kids have it great here. My only issue, is what LAUSD middle school will live up to this school?

My daughter just started Kindergarten this year and we could not be more pleased. Her teacher is so warm, organized and is great with the kids and parents. The principal is a dynamo, forever engaged, very approachable and is doing amazing throngs for the school- namely implementing a cutting edge STEM curriculum. The school community is very close knit and very involved- there are all sorts of fun things for families to participate in though out the year, such as a Halloween Festival, Picnics, Open House etc, The booster club does an amazing job with fundraising as well. The campus is new and beautiful too.

This is my sons second year at PVES and we could not be any happier! He is thriving in every way academically and socially. The teachers are all wonderful and the parent group is strong and extremely supportive. Amazing school and we are blessed to be a part of it!

PVES is an amazing school and I am very proud to have my daughter attend this school. The parents are a strong group and the teachers have an amazing wealth of knowledge and a passion for children. Now that the district is allowing us to upgrade our leadership I, as a father, am hoping for a male influence to complement the terrific ladies of PVES! Go Osprey!!!
