  Vista Oaks is a charter school whose program is homeschooling. Parents do all of the work of educating their children. The school does assign a teacher to each student to help support the parent in this process. As a publicly funded school, the school is required by law to identify children with disabilities and provide special education services. In my experience, the school fails children with disabilities. The law requires schools to assess in all areas of suspected disability and then provide appropriate services based on those assessment results. In our case, my child came to the school with an identified disability, and yet when it came time to reassess my child the school repeatedly DID NOT assess in all areas of suspected disability in fact they didn't assess in all areas of identified disability. The school then used their evaluations to provide services and as they didn't assess and hence didn't identify all of her areas of disability did not provide services in all the areas that she has disabilities.
