My child had a teacher who was just starting their career teaching. It was not the greatest experience for my child. The teacher didn't know how to handle a lot of things. I was so happy when we got the opportunity to leave.

I support Flat Rock and the entire staff from the Front Office to the custodians. The teachers do an outstanding job, however, the parents don't participate in the School as they should. We need a strong PTA in any school to make it work for everyone. The PTA we currently have is small and the parents don't support it. When meetings are called only a hand full of parents participate. A school is as strong as the community. It takes more than just leadership and teachers, it takes the parents to participate in their child's learning experience at the school.

My daughter has learned so much since she has started this school. I am extremely pleased with the level of communication and professionalism exhibited by the administrators at Flat Rock.

Flat Rock Elementary School. My son has been attending this school since Pre-K. He is now in the 5th grade. I wasn't sold on Flat Rock as a whole but was sold on the teachers until last year. I encountered a 4th grade Math teacher that gave my son 2 zeros for not doing in class testing. She never notified me or administrators. Why didn't she notify any of us and allowed my son to do NOTHING during those time periods?! My son had a 88 average in her class at the time. This teacher showed poor mismanagement skills and unethical behavior! My husband and I requested a conference. The teacher was asked what happened to my son's test and she responded, " I don't know."The administrators showed lack of backbone because they know that they have immature and vindictive teachers under their leadership. They chose to do nothing about it. The children are who suffer.

I love this school. It is crowded, and maybe they should rezone to help with that, but that isn't the schools issue. It's a county issue. My children attended last year and we were truly blessed. By well equipped teachers who knew how to handle the crowd, while maintaining the teaching. There we some teachers who yelled at the students a bit much and obviously need to be retrained, but for the most part this is a GREAT school. If your child wants to learn, they can. It's just not up to the teachers entirely. It starts @ home.

the school has some pretty good teachers who seem to really care about the kids, but there are major discipline problems at that school. How can a child be in a comfortable learning environment with an overcrowded classroom on top of the discipline problems! My child's teacher is doing the best she can but is not getting support from the principal. Administration needs to step up and do something about the discipline and organization problems in this school!

I have been a parent at Flat Rock since its inception in 2007. The school has been through many changes, particularly the change in leadership. I am very involved and my children have always done well. I communicate with their teachers when there are problems and just general feedback. I applaude the staff for staying motivated and determined admist the many changes, large class sizes, and sometimes lack of parent support. I feel a school is only as good as the parental invovlement. The teachers can't do it alone. I have fought for this school to stay in our neighborhood and I believe that we are finally turning the corner to have success. I would recommend this school and encourage any parent to get invovled so that Flat Rock can be a high achievers school.

If you care about your child then dont send them here. Its no wonders we are having the problems today in Georgia. Seems like teachers nowadays are doing it for a paycheck. I pray to God my child completes the school with confindentley know her studies. As I see it for this year the Teachers are lazy. Some of these may want to think about taking a refresher course in children studies and learn some better techniques. I dont care if your educated, its how you use it. I'm definatley starting to wonder if the state of Georgia it self has a education problem. So sad to see a state full of prosperous black people amongst so many irgnorant educators. God be with our children for the near future.

This school is way too crowded. There are some great teachers there and they do the best they can but there are too many kids, too many behavior problems and too many discipline issues. Students get away with a LOT and it is totally unacceptable.
