My son is in his 5th year at Carroll and I can't imagine where he would be without them. It's worth every penny.

An incredible school, an incredible community, and our family is grateful to be a part of it. The teachers truly know the kids and work with them so they can know themselves, how they learn and how they thrive!

This school changed our lives! My daughter was failing in public school with IEP AND 3 years of tutoring specialized in dyslexia. She felt that school was not for her. Carroll took the time she needed to feel like she could do anything and succeed! She certainly succeeded! Her reading, confidence and happiness multiplied in her time at Carroll!! My best advice: Go for it and ask them if your child fit there!

The highest possible! I hope we can afford to keep our kid there. It is a game changer for dyslexia.

So glad Carroll exists, that we live nearby and that we made the choice to send our kid. It's not perfect, no school is, but it's been a game changer for our family.

If Carroll is out of reach for your family, don't feel bad. Carroll is not a dyslexic nirvana. It is a very expensive, yet medioce private school with a good tutoring program. Both Carroll and Landmark have tutor referral services so you can get the best part wihout enrolling. Non-specialized private schools also often offer one-on-one tutoring for reading. We really stretched to make Carroll possible for our child and it was very dissapointing.

Carroll's greatest strength lies in the quality of its teachers, who are well-trained, caring, and hard-working. In our experience, unfortunately, this was more than offset by the school's inability to handle the fraught social interactions of middle-schoolers. The very small size of the Upper School means that students must fit in with the dominant social group or be ostracized, as there is nowhere else to turn. While our child was there, a "queen bee" student from a wealthy family took advantage of this situation to make our child's life miserable and influenced other students to join her campaign. The administrators were unable to deal with the situation effectively, and indeed failed to follow some of their own official procedures. Their response seemed to reflect both a panicky reaction to all forms of electronic communication, which they did not understand, and an overriding concern with maintaining the harmony of "the community," which meant taking the side of the dominant student and her friends.

My son started at Carroll 5 months ago and we couldn't be happier. What a nurturing and kind setting. I am amazed at the job they do. I will always be grateful for their services.

Carroll is resting on past laurels. Teachers are disengaged, math is not taught, kids don't learn organization, and there is no monitoring of recess behavior. In whole, the program is desultory, unimaginative, and second rate. The only benefit to Carroll is that kids get some 1:1 tutoring. After multiple years and multiple kids, I have given up on the place.

Carroll school refused entry to my child, which is fine , except the reasons were they refused to used a FM system, my child is hard of hearing and dyslexic, i gave them all kinds of information to help understand him, never thinking they would use this against him, I do wonder if i was a private paying , how this would have had and influence on their decision
