Midway is excellent, and easily one of the best elementary schools in the state. The teachers and administration are phenomenal and great to work with. Reading some of these complaints are a bit humorous. A great education can be fostered at school, but it begins at home. Perhaps reflection should be exercised more often.

Midway is an excellent school. The teachers and administration is invested in the students and keep parents informed of thing the children are learning. I like that the students get a lot of character building education at this school and there are service and other projects available to them. Everyone works very hard to ensure these kids get what they need to succeed in and out of the classroom.

My children attend Midway Elementary and we have been completely happy with their education. The teachers are warm friendly and are so genuine. They work hard at providing individual attention for every student. My son had reading difficulties and was identified right away. He was given extra help by the intervention team, he also had a speech problem which was addressed as well. The atmosphere at Midway is friendly and my children love their school. We are fortunate to live in area which has great schools, outstanding teachers and principals that think of the students first. Our principal visits every class room every day and she knows all of the children's names!

We were new to Midway this year, and overall have been very happy. Both of my children have teachers who seem loving, yet strict when it comes to work and behavior. Overall I think that is good as it sets the bar high. However, i do have an older child who may not have been able to handle that. I love the principal, who is always out and about, sitting at children's lunch tables for her own lunch so she can get to know them. The PTA is very active and that usually means good things for the school, even if some parents do not want to participate (per below). I have a child with a 504 and her teacher has been very accommodating and the review for next year was very easy. I have been to many schools, and am amazed at the language program here- you will have a hard time finding immersion programs in many other districts. Overall, nice environment, kind teachers, active programs (even after school) and very open to family involvement.

Midway school system is just as bad as every school in district one. Why does a school work in a 7 point grade scale? I have never seen a school that takes test every week not class test but state test. In third grade the child should be learning times tables yet this school goes from times to division fraction algebra. Really algebra for a 9 year old. Instead of working on one subject until the child can do it properly this school jumps to another subject. The teacher is nice enough but the entire district is messed up. My child was excelling before we moved to this district. I am so glad to leave I pray for all that are heck bent on their child going to district one. It is not all that great

I am so glad that I was able to get my son out of this school! He attended the first half of the year in kindergarten. His teacher was horrible! She basically said that he was very behind academically, but did not care to work with him. Rather, she tried to put him off on everyone else. Eventually, she quit responding to me entirely. When I tried to address the issue with the principal, she completely dismissed my complaints and took up for the teacher's behavior. My child has excelled at his new school in Greenville Co and is one of the brightest kids in his class. The problem before, was only that he was a five year old in a new environment and needed time to adjust. This school is ALL about test scores and money.

I felt I had to write my review after seeing the last one Midway recieved. Everytime I walk through the front doors,my child and myself are greeted warmly and with hugs! I see the office ladies hugging parents and children every day! Teachers have prepared my older children for high school and middle school to be in advanced classes and they continue to make As and Bs without struggling. All of them have LOVED their teachers throughout the years as well. The staff in Midway could not be any nicer, we have felt like this has been our 2nd home for years!

Depressing! Elementary School should be filled with laughter by both staff and students. There is none of this at Midway. When you walk in, if your greeted at all, the manner is brisk and abrupt. Teachers appear stressed and burned out. Furthermore, Midway Elementary School staff and administration are not equipped nor knowledgeable across the board about meeting the needs of students who have slight learning disabilities, nor can they meet the needs to provide a curriculum that challenges even the most gifted/talented student. I am a parent who has both children who attend Midway Elementary School. The school psychologist's behavior is the most unprofessional I have ever seen. I have a constant struggle and have to "stay on top of" teachers, psychologist and administers to ensure that both my children are not just brushed along. The school administration spends more time on fundraising than actively ensuring student's academic needs are met. Needless to say, I will be withdrawing my children and taking advantage of the school of choice option and placing them at another elementary school within the district.

We have been very pleased with this school. Our youngest is in the French Immersion program and receives half his lessons completely in French daily. I am amazed at his progress. The related arts program (music, art, p.e., computer, and Spanish) for my older two is exceptional also. I feel like they are getting a very well-rounded education. The teachers encourage open communication and solicit volunteers in the classrooms which is nice. The only negatives I can report is the high pressure PTA fundraisers that another reviewer also commented on. I would love to be able to pour oodles of money into the school like many of our friends in the more upscale neighborhoods do, but unfortunately we just can't afford to do so. Also, there is very little playground equipment, despite the fact the PTA has been promising to buy it for 2 years now with all those profits. I don't want to end on a negative note though, as overall we have been happy with Midway.

If your child has asperger/autism, this school discriminates agains them and looks for any reason to get rid of them (specifically the assistant principal).

Midway has exceeded all of my expectations. The teachers are wonderful and have open communication with the parents. I'm very fortunate that my children are able to attend such a wonderful school bo build a solid educational foundation.

Was invited last year to attend my 4th graders singing along, but before our children could sing, we were "held hostage" by the PTA. The PTA gave recognized one another and gave each other gifts. This was a switch and bait tactic and decided at that point to no longer support this schools PTA. The PTA has been extremely aggressive over the years and this was the last straw. On the 2nd or 3rd day of school, they start sending home the wrapping paper fund-raiser items & the pressure it high. This year the principal also is leaving half-way through the year, who does that?

The principal and staff will do anything for their children and they arrive each day with a smile on their face,ready to help our children be the best they can be.
