I am a graduate from this school and I can safely say that you should not let your child anywhere near here. I attended this school from 3rd grade to graduation, these were the worst years of my life. I was bullied heavily for the entirety of my education here. Not just by the students mind you but by the teachers and the principal as well. I was threatened by a few students regularly that if I showed up the next day that it would be my last and the staff did nothing to stop it instead choosing to ignore their responsibility to take care of their students. This school should be reprimanded for their incapability to deal with bullying especially over students with parents that donate regularly. Teachers discriminated against me for my adhd and would regularly take me out to the hall to berate and scream at me for actions as simple as adjusting in my seat too much or fiddling with a pencil too much. This school is incapable of dealing with any mental disabilities so if your child has any disabilities definitely stay far away. The education is lack luster and leaves much to be desired, while student count is low don’t expect that to mean the teachers will be able to spend more time with each student because they will not. Teachers will regularly become bother and upset with students who are having issues understanding the current topic. Also, if you’re not a wealthier family that donates to the church be prepared for your child to feel like an outsider. The principle heading this school is the worst I’ve ever come across. During my time here she regularly berated parents and students out in the open for everyone to see. She is horrendous at making decisions that better the school and should be replaced. I make this review out of concern for other children who may go through the same experience at SSCM and I hope this warning helps parents to realize this is not a safe place and the kindness they preach is rarely paid forward. Protect your children and enroll them somewhere else. This school should be investigated.

As per other parent's reviews with children in younger grades, this school is not prepared for children in pre-school or Kindergarten. They falsey advertise safety and flexibility for younger students. The bathrooms for the younger grades to use are very far from the classrooms. Multiple stories over the years have been shared that younger students are only allowed to use the bathroom during scheduled breaks and are seen as a burden if they have to go at a different time. The principal herself was beyond unprofessional in her response to my daughter having accidents trying to make it to the bathroom. There was no social-emotional support for young pre-schoolers or kindergarteners. The school lacks appropriate communication skills. The front staff verbally harassed me and my young daughter in front of the school with other students present. As someone who works in education, I highly do not recommend sending your young children to this school, especially if you are looking at preschool-K. The school is outdated and not setup properly for young learners.

Excellent school. Very small but kids get to know everyone there. Teachers put their heart out into this school. You can volunteer if you’d like to. Previous core ire about some parents being favored is baloney. I’ve never seen or heard that. That parent must have been upset about her child urinating and this the negative review

I pulled my children last year. My daughter was at st cyrils from kinder to 2nd and my youngest left after his kindergarten year. It’s a small school which is nice you do get to know parents well. You can even volunteer in the cafeteria which is nice. You very much get to know the staff by name. I was overall unhappy and very sad with our experience being there. While my children did make friends and I have made lifelong friends as well; I pulled my children. I was sick of some catty behavior from parents (you’ll see) which didn’t involve me but it’s just not nice. The school staff favors those parents whom Give more to the church/school and it’s visible. Their children do get treated differently as well. There are a lot of wealthy families particular here, so it’s the name of the game. I did not like the teachers and their approaches especially the younger crucial grades. Older grades seemed better. After years of disappointment and finally last straw my kindergartener urinated himself after his teacher (Stock) refused twice to let him use the bathroom I decided to pull them. Teachers kept changing each year and this particular teacher was very strict with bathroom use and with our very little children and immature bowls it broke my heart to pick up my son crying like I’ve never seen all soaked. I was broken with him. He said Mom I asked her twice and said mom I said “I really need to go” and she said no. He to this day brings It up. Also, there were a lot of physical fights with the boys along with pinching, spitting etc you name it in this classroom that year and the principle did very little to protect our children. It was one problem child but it kept happening. Final Straw and red flags. I did see older classes separate into cliques which I did not like as well and kindness needs to be worked on. Visible in the lunchroom in particular. It would have been difficult to stay in the long run. We are at public and I feel there’s fairness and no fighting. They can use the bathroom as they please. That’s our experience. Thanks.

What I love about this school is that you’ll know every parent and every staff member by name. Every teacher/staff in school knows and greets your child by name. If there is an issue then it is addressed quickly. They listen. Love that I know who is in my sons class and the parents. Homework is hard and they are prepared. A parent can be as involved as they want to be in school. You can in your child’s class or lunchroom. It is very open to parents. They have low class numbers and aids helping. The children are truly taken care of.

SS. Cyril and Methodius School has proven to be the absolute best choice for our family! With currently 3 children enrolled, we couldn't be more pleased with the staff, the curriculum and the overall school family feeling. The current Kindergarten program is outstanding. I am thoroughly impressed with the reading program, my son was reading so quickly into the school year and is now reading books with little to no assistance. It offers my kids the opportunity to also have art, gym, music, computers and Spanish throughout the week. A top notch school led by a wonderful principal.

Sadly, I'm disappointed with St. Cyril Kdg. I can only comment on KDG. The curriculum needs change. It is very boring, with the same worksheets every day. The kids color every morning 2 worksheets then go on to same routine. Where is the creativity? Why are most of their specials in one day? Art, music and computers are on Thurs. Why not separate them out. Instead of having them color have them draw something etc. There are so many ways to make learning fun! Many kids are saying they are bored and at age 5, it's heartbreaking to hear so soon. Everyday for indoor recess, they play with playdoh. Why are our 5 year olds seated most of the day? Why not have them play duck duck goose one day, another day playdoh. Change things up! I was also disappointed in the teacher. She did not love teaching. I heard her say this just started and I wish it was already over. She yells at the kids, which she calls being stern. She does not know how to deal with small children. If they have a bad day, redirect them not put them down! Some parents complain that the teacher did not respond to their email. We are a team and should be communicated with! I also believe all parents should be invited to field trips with this age group and weekly mass for a 5 year is a lot (kids cry) especially if you attend church also Sunday. Introducing them slowly to that much church I think will benefit them. I do like that we are sent weekly updates from principal and teacher. The teachers aide is wonderful and most students are pretty sweet to each other.

SSCM is a wonderful school community and we couldn't be happier. Along with a quality education there are so many fantastic opportunities for the students such as joining various clubs, athletics, and being involved with parish activities. SSCM is a nurturing environment for students and families are warmly greeted when they visit. I strongly recommend visiting SSCM!

SS Cyril & Methodius is a well rounded Catholic school that exceeds all needs of the students. The education our children receive is far above expectations and the extra curricular activities available provide for a well rounded program. The teachers truly care about the students and will meet with you, discuss and follow through on their promises. Our children are ready for high school and beyond. I have 3 children here and couldn't imagine being anywhere else. The parish is strong and the environment is the "welcome home" feeling that our entire family loves!

This is my seventh year (with three children) at SS Cyril and Methodius School and I can honestly say this was the best choice for my Child's education. From a very early age my children were reading, using iPads/Smartboards, and taught public speaking in 2nd grade! This school creates leaders through a challenging curriculum, yet caters to those gifted students who may need the extra help in finding their way. The teachers care and want these students to go on to great high schools & colleges; I have personally worked with the Special Resources Counselor who is excellent in finding a program that will make my daughter succeed without letting go of the challenge. This is NOT a place where kids get a prize for showing up, but a place where the prize is a quality Catholic education at a great value. Kudos to the team at this school - my kids are behaved, well-rounded and most importantly HAPPY!

Poor leadership and lack of interest in aspiring for higher standards. Teachers are stagnant and do not aspire growth and professional development, with the exception of a select few. Many changes need to be made to this school from all levels to compete with the surrounding catholic grade schools.

The kindergarten teachers leave much to be desired. I have seen first hand the lack of classroom management skills one teacher has and heard from other parents that the second kindergarten teacher should have retired years ago. I'm not sure how the other grade level teachers are but kindergarten is a huge disappointment.
