I currently have 2 children at Leeds with another going in a few years. Our experience over the past 4 years has been fantastic. The teachers at Leeds are amazing. They have helped my gifted child bloom and my average child gain the skills he needs to be someone who loves learning. They have helped shaped my children into compassionate human beings who love to go to school. The robotics and gardening education are my favorite parts of the curriculum.

My kindergartner is having a great experience at Leeds School! We were impressed by how proactive the school was in getting them ready to start with weekly playground meetups at the school in August. On the first day of school he already had a few friends! The kindergarten has it's own playground, and we have found that to be great in that they youngest students can have some separate, age appropriate play space. The school hosts wonderful events for the children in the evenings and our family enjoyed attending a cookie swap recently. The before and after school programs are run by the Leeds staff, which is wonderful since the children are familiar with the adults already. The staff is flexible and caring and we are impressed with the progress that our son has made since he started school. We look forward to sending our younger child there in a few years!

This is a great school and community. I sense that staff and teachers care and that's key these days. We are happy with our child's progress and he enjoys waking up and going to school each day.

Leeds is an outstanding school. We have 4 children attending. My eldest cries when she cannot attend school because she is Ill and at the end of the academic year. The teachers are great at engaging the kids in learning. There is openness from the leadership of the school for parents to involved in positive ways. The school is truly a community school, rich in diversity. My kids love learning in the Leeds School Community!

I have had three children attend Leeds Elementary School, and they have all loved it. We moved to Leeds from a private school, and about a month into starting at Leeds, our daughter came home and said how happy she was to be somewhere there are children of different needs, and so supported by the students and staff. Every teacher my children has had has been remarkable. They love these kids. They take time to think of fun and educational field trips and in school projects. The Leeds Science Fair, held every year, is participated my the great majority of the school; it is fun, educational, and my kids look forward to it every year. The school has a new principal, Mr. Canata, who takes time to listen to the students, the teachers, and the parents. He is at every school event, and whenever I'm at the school volunteering, I see him in and out of all the classrooms. Every child at Leeds knows Mr. Canata, and he knows every child. Finally, a couple of years ago, the students from Clarke School for the Hearing and Speech in Northampton moved into Leeds, in an effort to move the children into mainstream education. This has only added to the diversity, and supportive environment at Leeds. With the merging of the two schools, Leeds gained more dedicated and passionate teachers and assistants, and a group of wonderful children. I can't say enough good things about Leeds Elementary School.

I have to say that Leeds is by far the best school, with teachers that care, a principle that is very involved and parents that meet any and all challenges!

If your child is average, this school is perfect for you. However, most children are far from average. Both the advanced placement programs and special education programs are far from exemplary in every way. We have had four children attend this school - all with varying strengths and weaknesses - they have all been extremely unhappy at Leeds Elementary. In recent years, there has been a new principal. Most have had only negative things to say about him. That being said, we have found Joseph Smith to be both responsible and responsive. Unfortunately for him, he has been up against a long history of small town politics and gossip(s). It is hard to say what is worse - the school itself or the district's complete lack of regard for special needs children of any kind. Their goal is simply to shuffle the child through the daily motions in an effort to move them out of their responsibility rather than actually make an impact on their lives or education. As you can see, we are disgusted. If you have a special child - delayed or advanced - look elsewhere.

The teachers and curriculum at Leeds Elem School has consistently provided our daughter with meaningful opportunities for reading, writing, creative and social growth. We have seen her evolve into an ethically concerned young person with deepening regard and empathy for others, and animals and the world around her. She has developed problem solving skills and discipline, facilitating her to become a more effective independent and cooperative learner. We are honored to be part of the Leeds School community. Great neighborhood elementary school - only one in Northampton that has made adequate yearly progress. Lots of dedicated parents and great after-school enrichment programs.

Leeds Elementary school has an excellent curriculum, administered by fine teachers. In particular, the Writer's Workshop program is worthy of praise, as it progresses from Kindergarten to 5th grade; and builds on skill by utilizing a variety of writing techniques. Additionally the after-school enrichment programs and the very-active and highly-successful PTO round out this school's community appeal.
