I am a former student that went to Camacho elementary and it was absolutely horrible. Especially for me and my family, Yeah I had teachers that I liked but I also had mean teachers. When I was in kindergarten (when I was enrolled) My teacher hated me and always tried to manhandle me and made sure that the other kids did not talk to me. She punished me for no reason and she once clawed me in the armpits with her long nails and didn't care. I am glad she was fired. My 5th grade teacher was also not the best, she used to always call me a baby whenever I cried and made fun of me for being sensitive and she pulled my hair and she said that I "didn't want friends and help" because I was struggling with depression and anxiety at the time and she did not do anything when kids were mean to me. Don't even ask when it comes to special education it was AWFUL and this is coming from a person with autism and adhd and is in special education. They treated us like dogs and they acted like we where monsters and they literally denied my PROFESSIONALLY DIAGNOSED autistic sister from ELE just because she wasn't "autistic enough"DONT ENROLL YOUR KIDS AT COMACHO IF YOU DONT WANT YOUR KIDS TO BE TREATED LIKE SH*T

Wonderful school! So glad my son was able to attend. It’s a new building with a great technology lab. Among other things!

Run. I'm not one to take time to write a review, but I feel so strongly about the overall operations and leadership at this school I want to warn others. There are indeed some gems on staff, but the leadership is a nightmare. It is haphazard and unorganized. We have been at other schools and I have multiple kids attend here. This is by far, the worst experience. Aside from the awful test scores, there are pervasive problems through and through that I feel can be traced back to the Wendy Gonzaba and Mike Garcia. I looked at the state test scores for where my kids scored compared to peers here and past schools we attended and it was appaling. This coupled with the countless other issues we have attempted to cooperate with them on has us on the hunt for a better place for our kids.

This is our third year with this school and our experience is seriously contingent upon the teacher from year to year. Get a good teacher you’ll have. Great experience. But you can’t rely on consistent leadership nor consistent staff.Even the principal has changed if I remember correctly 3 principals in a short 6 year span. The special education team changes. District assistance and legal assistance has been sought to help clean up this school. The environment is toxic for neurodiverse individuals. They seem to look for reason to not to provide support for learning differences blaming everything except dyslexia or dysgraphia. Your ability to get the proper support is going to be a direct reflection of how well you can advocate for your child and even once a good solid IEP is written there will be gaps in fidelity and little to no communication regarding your student’s learning experience. There are some wonderful gem of teachers at this school but the leadership to get a consistent experience and solid support or communication lacks. We won’t even bother to touch on the nearly absent PTA who only communicates when they are asking you to open your pockets.

Overall this school lacks many things that my child needs to be successful in learning at an elementary level. I would highly recommend doing your "homework" before enlisting your child here. The school itself has failed to "meet expectations" for four years in a row now. Their reasoning has been because they are a "new school." This ranks them one of the lowest elementary schools in the district. Thankfully we will be transferring to a new school next year.

The best experience I have ever seen, they really care about each student.

It has been really good. I love that we have been there almost every year and have seen how much they have changed over the years.

This school has been a very very bad experience for my child and my family. We have no support from the immediate staff revolving around my child. I am currently worried for his safety and am reviewing our options for recourse to protect our child from the staff.

I was lucky enough to spend every Friday for two years at Camacho through my work for a non-profit organization. I know the staff well, from the front office, the cafeteria staff, the teachers, and even the custodians. Camacho Elementary is a special place, where children come to learn to love learning. The teachers are some of the most amazing educators I've ever met. They care about their students, want them to succeed, and encourage them to think critically. Because Camacho is a STEM school, the approach is different than in a traditional school. The students focus on project based learning and spend their time gaining knowledge, rather than prepping for standardized tests. It is amazing! If I'd had the opportunity to send my own two children to Camacho, I would have done it in a heartbeat (instead they went to a highly rated Four Points are Leander ISD elementary school). If standardized tests are your thing – this might not be the school for you. But, if you want to raise curious, independent, critical thinkers, your children will thrive at Camacho. I love this tribe!

Two years down and I’m impressed. It’s only been open 4 years now I think.

We have been at top ranked schools in other districts but Camacho has been our favorite. Love the STEM approach! My kids are in QUEST and PACE and flourishing!

This is the school my daughter needed! Project-based learning, STEM, focus on the children really learning through experience rather than cramming for a test...I LOVE THIS SCHOOL!

This school has only been open for 2 years. My son has gone for 2nd and 3rd grade. There is poor communication throughout the whole school. It can be days before his teacher responds to email. Their site doesn't even have her email listed. Never know what is being taught. Child is not where he is should be at in most subjects. His other school caught when he needed extra assistance and provided help in different ways. They still do not give Grades, but I don't know if they will in 4th grade.
