From Day 1 this organization was anything but organized. From the platform changes with no one seemingly knowledgeable on how to use it to the first day schedule mess. Trying to discuss issues with staff was absolutely impossible. Teachers never answered questions or even just responded to my student's emails or messages left for help or clarification etc. When my student had to step away from class for a couple of minutes to handle a personal issue they returned to the teacher closing him out of class with a very immature message that was rude and condescending and absolutely unnecessary for a "teacher" to say to a student. When I addressed the issue the teacher responded to me with nothing else but a thumbs up emoji! That was it. As it turns out this "teacher" is not even technically a teacher at all and has not received her credentials as a teacher. I brought all of this up to the superintendent with emails and texts to prove my concerns and was met with an ultimatum to withdraw my student immediately or she would negatively expel them leaving a tarnish on their permanent records. Note that she had already previously deactivated both the student and my learning coach accounts to deny access to all of the correspondence and information stored in them. She immediately sent the withdrawal forms to my email. I filled them out and signed them with no recourse or available school to transfer to. So, in short this institution failed my student by not meeting the basic standards a school should meet and when called on it, bullied and degraded both of us and then pushed a struggling student to the curb and turned their backs on them and their right to attend school without legitimate reasons or intervention or mediation. Thoroughly deplorable actions on the teacher and the superintendent.

The teachers at this school are very nice. However the way their website works is absolutely ridiculous. It is very difficult to find the class you are supposed to join. In addition, at the start of the year it is more complicated than what it should be in order to find the schedule you are supposed to follow. In conclusion, I would not recommend going to this school.

School does not put the children first. Most teachers do not respond to parent emails. Staff does not respond to calls, emails, etc. Principal is very condescending and cares more about charter funds than students.

The classes in this school are very difficult to learn from unless its a class that has a subject strongly related to tech (i.e.; Graphic Design). And if you/your child enjoys being social in school, I STRONGLY do not recommend sending them here. Most teachers have the qualifications and the ability to teach, however the want for the students to learn is strongly stifled by being put into an online school. Any group projects/assignments are incredibly difficult to get done effectively as not everyone wants to use a mic/be on camera, or be obliged to help as the school doesn't account for that.Another thing the school does is breach any and all privacy you have on your pc during class, something which I and most likely many other students have objections against teachers being able to hear/see you during the entire class. As a student may be cussing out a teacher/class/entire school itself and a teacher would be able to hear that and have difficulty teaching the class.

Unfortunately the school's name is misleading, it should be Nevada Blended Academy. A complete waste of time. My child did not do well in a brick and mortar school but her grades increased when she was virtural now you want to send her back part time, no thank you. They do not listen to the parent's concerns and don't care and just tell you to withdraw from the school, they do not care about your child's education, very sad.

There is only one thing I believe, the school DOES need to know. A LOT of these students are able to get answers to their school work, and especially tests online, from a website called brainly.com I have a family member in her last year of school right now, and apparently she's known about this site for several of the years attending NVA. I just though this needed to come to someone's attention as I see this as a cheating way to get their work done.

My kids hv been there for 9 years. Every year the experience gets worse. It doesn't give the experience of home school anymore.

NVVA has given my child the opportunity to get a college degree while attending high school. The curriculum prepared her for this prior to being able to participate in the Jump Start program.

NVVA is the best school my children have gone to mix school of online and in class is the best with all the doctors they half to see

This school was great the first two years my daughter attended. Then they implemented pathways and mandatory class connects where my kids learn nothing and waste 3 hours of our morning. I chose to skip state mandated testing and they dropped my kids a whole letter grade in every subject because of it. It's become so ridiculous. If my kids miss a class connect the teachers can not allow them to make up the assignments that were given out so my kids end up with an F in the grade book and no chance of making it up! I have repeatedly asked to put them on independent since my kids are all advanced but have been told no. They assign all this busy work on various sites that they require the kids to complete daily yet its not even graded. We have been toughing it out these 12 weeks of school but after the xmas break we are withdrawing and doing true homeschooling and not virtual public school with all the restrictions. I hate it because we have been with them for 4 years and the curriculum is great but the school itself is terrible.

NVVA was fine for the first part, then for the next my daughter got new teachers, and all they did was assign her a ton of busy work on various websites. It was incredibly repetitive and time-wasting. I called MANY times, asking to be on the independent pathway. My daughter is fairly advanced, and didn't need the repetive time-wasters. I was assured several times that I would be called right back within a day or two. One week later I was still trying to get a principal to answer the phone, and to return my calls. I finally had to give up and withdraw since I was unwilling to torture my daughter with the poor practices of NVVA.

I honestly thought this Academy was going to be worth it since it was in the comfort of my home but to be honest its not comfortable at all. I don't get the point of attending Live Classes for an hour and then do your homework/classwork for another hour. Its said that a normal day would be the same amount of hours as brick-and-mortar school but that is a lie. I'm spending more time doing work and trying to finish than actually learning. To be honest, I learned more in one week at my brick-and-mortal school than I ever did at this virtual academy for a week.

Definitely has gone down hill over the years. Both my wife an I work nites yet still must conform to public school hours with home school. Kind of defeats the purpose of home schooling. Mandatory class connects now? Where a lot of gibber gabber of the teachers with pointless rants and waste of time that could be use as productive learning. 2 teachers for one classes make alot of things confusing. Loss of funding is completely understandable as weve seen a steady decline in the homeschool as a whole. We have been with nvva for several years. Im starting to doubt the excellence the strive to portray vs public school this year.

I love this school and there is no better school.I've been at this school for a month that is enough to know how great this school is. The teachers there are nice, the staff are amazing i love my school. Plus im a kid i know what kid want their school to be like.

As a 7 year veteran Learning Coach with with 2 students, 4th and 8th, I am so thankful for the school choice option NVVA provides! The admin and teaching staff has showed our family tremendous support. Parents interested in virtual learning need to understand that the role of Learning Coach is as a Teacher working with and on a team with other Teachers. Your success is determined by your commitment.

I love this school. My son is about to start fifth grade, his third year, at NVVA. The field trips during the school year are organized by the teachers,and there is one every month. At least for fourth grade there was one every month. The school district here in Vegas has placed 50th for the past three years and I know for a fact that they do not have the resources to teach the students anything close to what k12 curriculum offers. I know the time the students have to put into the lessons can be overwhelming and challenging, but I would prefer that for my son over going to a school that can't provide a curriculum with high expectations. I have always encountered encouraging teachers and staff always willing to help in any way they can.

This school is not good. There was a bullying incident where the Staff and Faculty did nothing about it. THERE ARE A LOT OF DRUGS THERE!!If you do not want your child to become involved with the wrong crowd and hate bullying, I do not recommend sending your child there.

The Nevada Virtual Academy is currently attempting to phase out their Foundations courses that are taught by special education teachers for special needs students, who need extra support. The school is becoming extremely academic focused and is losing sight of the fact that these heightened expectations, while beneficial in the long run must be effectively and smoothly transitioned to students. There are a number of very effective measures that have been instituted, including but not limited to face to face tutoring and more CRT/HSPE preparation available in live tutoring setting and virtual. It is my impression from working with Nevada Virtual Academy, that despite taking full federal and state grant funded programs that its administration and school board are very private in their practices. It is my belief that a public charter school should be open to public board meetings, where parents and teachers are invited monthly. One of the challenges that many failing students will face next year is the inability to return. It is with great hope that these students who view Nevada Virtual Academy as their best chance of graduation are seen as much more than just a number.
