Alameda has been a terrible school for a very long time. The biggest problem has been leadership and staff. Zero guidance and leadership from administrators followed by poor performance the teaching staff. The district is hiring a new principal however the committee in charge of interviewing candidates is made of up many of the same people responsible for years of failure the school.

Alameda offers a lot of great opportunities to students. They offer a lot of sports and clubs to the middle schoolers that often are not available at regular middle schools. The IB program and the dual language programs are amazing opportunities for students to really excel and prepare for college! However, Alameda needs to really work on their safety and security in the school. There are many fights and many students partaking in illegal behavior such as vaping in class and in the bathrooms on a daily basis without consequences. In addition, the expectations for educational performance needs to be stricter. Students are being passed from grade level to grade level without really mastering the content. Also, more should be done ro involve parents and families in the school .

I've seen other principals more involved with the students in other schools, if the principal actually makes the students her priority and be really involved then I think she would be able to make the school a great school but I see that she's only there for the paychecks not the students. My students have told me several times that they rarely see her in the hallways and they also think that she can do better. Alameda has so much potential for being a great school but leadership is not there.

My child has been successful academically, loves her homeroom (Advise) teacher and classmates, and has made friends. I have asked her if she’d be interested in moving to one of the larger high schools as she enters 9th grade in order to be on more competitive sports teams, etc, but she absolutely does not want to leave Alameda. So, I’d give our experience here the best rating possible. 10? Gold star?

I love the opportunities that this school presents to students and families. I love the bilingual/dual language classes, and the IB programming 7-12 where students can get college credit. It is a safe, caring learning environment.

2 kids went here . horrible, 3rd one in because our request to transfer was denied. Already a disaster and both girls are good kids.

Horrible experience. I would rate this school a zero if that option was available.

My daughter has been going to Alameda for 2 years now and I think the school is absolutely amazing! The teachers and staff are wonderful, other schools have a lot to learn from the staff at Alameda. They truly care about the children and want them to succeed, by going above and beyond to get the kids involved in school activities. They provide a lot of support to the kids in getting them prepared for college. I truly think that they deserve more funding, this would only make this school even greater. I definitely would recommend this school to everyone.

The staff at Alameda has always been respectful to my self and my children who have gone there. My children have felt safe, and welcome by the whole school community.

My daughter has gone to Alameda for the last 3 years, she graduates next week. The day we registered her to begin classes Ms Van Stoyk, (principle of the high school) stopped to introduce herself and talk with us a while. She was warm and friendly and we talked at length about the curriculum. She recommended that Katlyn go into the IB program. Katlyn gave her a firm "no" and Ms Van Stoyk vowed not to give up on Katlyn entering the IB diploma program. This is funny because Katlyn is completely immersed in IB finals this last week of high school. The experience and education she has received at Alameda International High School has been top notch. Ms Van Stoyk, Ms Sautel and the entire group of teachers she's been learning under have really taken the time and effort to be sure that the students are getting absolutely everything out of the DP program that they possibly can. They have given extra time in the morning, after school and even in the evening and on weekends. I'm so happy that Katlyn has had the opportunity to learn from this incredible team. I know that when we say goodbye and leave her at college this coming August; she has well educated and is equipped with the skills and knowledge to be successful in her college education and beyond.Thank you and much Aloha to Ms Van Stoyk and all of the wonderful educators that have taught Katlyn over the last 3 years. I have been at Alameda for the past four years, and never once did I want to go anywhere else. The teachers here are amazing and help anyone who needs it. Our principal, Ms. VanScoyk, has done remarkable things for the school and has absolutely made it a great and happy place for all us students. I feel more prepared for continuing on to college, and know that I will do well in whatever career I choose to do because I had the great staff of Alameda help to prepare me.

I am a teacher at Alameda and have been for many years. I would not want to teach anywhere else. I love the students, the community and staff at our school. We have an incredible instructional leader in Susie Van Scoyk who cares about our students and makes decisions to benefit our students. Great things are happening at Alameda and I am proud to be a part of it. Our students and staff are the best!

I've worked for many principals and Susie Van Scoyk is the best one I've worked for. She's supported my professional growth and, most importantly, cares passionately for the students. I'd send my kids to Alameda in a heartbeat.

I have been here for four years, the school is not in the best shape and it is in need of remodeling. But this school teachers are very helpful and all are very new. The administration of this school is not helpful nor the counselors.

I graduated Alameda two years ago and can honestly recommend it above all other schools. In college, I encountered students who had attended the larger, more prominent schools in the area, and they admitted that they hated their high school experience because of cliques, social pressures, and feeling like they didn't fit in. Alameda's small but diverse population offers a unique experience in that there are no cliques or bullying. Everyone was friendly, and all students were encouraged to explore different perspectives and interests. I was also better prepared for college than my peers who had attended other schools. Alameda has knowledgeable, passionate, and dedicated teachers introducing students to relevant, university-level material. The service opportunities within the Diploma Program also prepared me for leadership positions I now hold in college. I attribute my success in college to my experience at Alameda, and I truly believe that Alameda is the best high school for every student!

I'm an IB alumni from Alameda and had a very positive experience during my 4 years at Alameda. With the relatively new IB diploma program, students that want to push themselves and prepare themselves for college have a good opportunity to do so. The teachers I had always pushed me and understood their subjects very well, especially the teachers involved in the IB program. I know Alameda has had a negative stigma over the years, but the school has been continuing to improve a lot lately and as long as your student is motivated and pushes his or her self, they will get as good of an experience at Alameda as any other school.

I recently just graduated from AIHS and I can tell you that, this school is absolutely amazing! I have to say that I loved every single year there just because of all the different teachers I had! They're so kind and always willing to work with you whenever you needed the extra help, especially being an athlete! The teachers were always so reasonable with you! The students there are also really cool and pretty much everyone gets along with each other. There's always a group of people that are just like you! AIHS also has the best IB Diploma Programme. All the IB teachers challenge you to explore outside of your comfort zone and gets you thinking above and beyond. They definitely prepare you for the life after high school. This school is such a great school, you won't regret sending your child there!

My son graduated from Alameda International High School in 2013 and I can say without a doubt that he had the best high school experience out of my four children who have all graduated from other high schools. My other children went to another much larger Jeffco high school and they did not have near the great experience that my son who attended AIHS had. Alameda is a smaller high school so the students do not "fall through the cracks". It has a wonderfully diverse population and it truly is an international high school. AIHS has all three IB programs (Middle Years Program, Diploma Program and the IB Career-related Certificate Program) and it has an "open access" policy so any student wanting to challenge himself with the IB program will be accepted. My son excelled in his education and in extracurricular activities and was very well prepared for college. I am so pleased with the education that he received at AIHS. I would recommend AIHS to any parent looking for a high school where students receive personal attention from teachers and where programs are available to all students who wish to excel.
