Summit Academy is a school that focuses on helping the students that are the most in need using the most effective means. It is a small school, all to the benefit of both the student's and staff. Being a public school, Summit necessarily treats all students as equals. Students walk into the building as clean slates, free of judgement for their past, or upbringing. In larger public schools, a teacher can be responsible for thirty or more students at a time, across five to seven courses. Most of the struggles endured by students stems from the fact that in such large classes they become another number to their already overworked teachers. But, at Summit, this is not a problem. As a teacher, I have been able to get to know my students better than I ever have before. I actually have the time to get to know their stories, and understand where they are coming from.Summit focuses on students as people first, academically there are cases of great success, and great failure, but never does a student go without the opportunity to belong when they are at Summit. Here, teachers can actually know their students, and have time for them because they are not tending to twenty other students at once. There is no one perfect solution for teaching the exceptional diversity of students we serve at Summit, but, you can be absolutely sure that students who need room to grow, as people, and as students will have a better chance at Summit. I know personally that more than anything, the teachers, and leaders at Summit simply want one thing: For our students to be alright. We want them to be safe, and make it through the tough times, and find good jobs, and figure things out. We genuinely, desperately want our students to succeed. And, when students want that, too, they do.

One of the first to graduate from this high school and they are awesome. They actually take into consideration that you are not only a student but a human and have a life outside of school. They help you with everything they can and are very kind. Great teachers from all parts of life and will make sure you succeed.
