Springstone is an excellent non public school for neurodivergent children. Springstone's access program is what sets the school apart from traditional public school. Access is where the kids go out into the community, to learn hands on life skills like making purchases independently, reading maps, riding public transportation and so much more.Although Springstone is not a "behavior" school, in my experience they do their best to work through behavioral challenges. My own child was given grace and support when their behaviors posed a problem at school. Springstone worked to see that all involved parties worked using restorative practices, which in turn helped my child reflect on their actions. We are very happy with Springstone.

This school is ONLY for children who are "internalizers." Do not send your child to Springstone if they have emotional or behavioral issues of any kind. They absolutely destroyed my child- made him sit in the hall, wouldn't let him use the bathroom to the point of wetting his pants, sent him to the office for hours at a time-- all for minor things like blurting out an answer in class or goofing around with friends. They kick people out who don't fit their very narrow profile of what they will tolerate-- in our year alone, 3 of 7 kids were kicked out. If your child is quiet, inwardly focused, and follows orders, but has awkward social skills or learning disabilities, this place might work for them. But for the majority of autistic kids who have rigid behaviors, anxiety and some defiance, this is an actively bad place to send them. It took my child a full year to recover emotionally from his year here.

Springstone is full of people who celebrate differences and make it possible for students who access information in their own unique way to be accepted and excell. Whatever each child's definition of success is they will find it at Springstone. It was amazing what our child could do once the anxiety produced in public schools was released and his overwhelmed sensory system was honored and assisted. Our whole family loves it here. This place saves lives!!

This is my sons 3rd year here. Springstone is a wonderful, warm community. My son is now in 8th grade and has learned and progressed so much. The staff and teachers truly care about each child. I couldnt have asked for a better middle school experience for my son.

I agree with prior reviewers, and would add that the school setting is beautiful, sharing property with a church in a lovely wood building with big windows, nestled in among the trees and with a creek bubbling down the hill. The directors have a wonderful philosophy, unlike any other that I've seen (focusing on executive functioning, teaching process before content), and the teachers all have Special Ed degrees. They are able and willing to identify each child's needs, and address them. My 6th grader has been here only a couple of months, but we are excited and pleased with the changes in him (no more anxiety!) We have dropped out of the rat race, and couldn't be happier. The irony is that our son is more engaged because we are here, in a small setting where he is actually able to concentrate on what they are teaching. Goodbye overachieving public schools, hello Springstone where my son can actually learn and grow as an individual without feeling overwhelmed. We are very, very pleased to be here.
