This has been a wonderful school for our children. They have advanced above expectations in English and math. The science teacher taught them to love science, and the extracurricular activities have been well-supported by the parents. Parents are encouraged to take an active role!

This is the sweetest little school! Parents move houses just to be zoned for this school. Since Mrs.Hinton is once again the principal, the climate of the school is encouraging and thriving. The parental involvement and community support for the school is incredible and gives the children access to everything they need to learn. Because of all the support this school receives, it is the best elementary school in town.

This is a really wonderful school. I felt the need to rate this school because of the other reviews. We did have a lack of leadership with one principal for a couple years. She is no longer at SES, and our previous principal, Ms Hinton, returned last year. My children are all different ages and learning abilities, and all of their needs have been met while at SES. Our expectations have been exceeded, and we are truly grateful the community at our little school.

The school should be the gem of knox county school, yet it is not! Why? The leader is a woman who has not taught elementary school age, who prefers the affluent students to the disadvantaged students. Is it the fault of innocent children to come from a poor home, I think not! Shame on Julia Kirk, Celia, and Knox County school for being a blight on education.

We have two children that attend Sequoyah and couldn't be happier. Very strong staff and administration with terrific parent involvement. We couldn't be more pleased.

Punitive, discriminative example of education. No room for kids from different backgrounds and cultures. They are treated like lower class and unfairly punished and pushed away by administration. School teaches children not to problem solve but spy on each other. I can confidently say there is white elitist invisible pressure over children. My kid spent one year in this unfortunate enviroment that I deeply regret. Main focus of the school is testing scores and parents donations. No room for critical thinking, questioning, creativity and healthy social development. School certainly does not deserve the good reputation that it has.

The school has forgotten education is the key, not how much money the parents earn. The principal, Julia Kirk, who has NEVER taught elementary age children, is disservice to the teaching profession. She doesn't want children who receive federally funded free lunch. The secretary, Celia, is also an elitist. I've witnessed how they railroaded a family who are low income in a public school for the wealthy. Julia Kirk, Celia, and the vice principal have repeatly questioned two innocent children and made false allegations against the guardian and parents, so that the low income children are out of their elitist school. Shame on Knox County for allowing such awful behavior that had no place in education.

The principal, guidance counselor, and primary teacher were completely inappropriate, and vulgar with our family! Thank goodness we were able to get our child out of there quickly!
