My 3 kids have been attending this school. The experience was consistently good. Mr Miller, Mrs Pearia, Mrs. Sheldon, Mrs. Cracker, Mrs. Knapp, Mrs. Stewart are always attentive to our kids' academic and emotional needs, encouraging, kind, and respectful. The EAP students do get necessary academic challenge and support. The music teachers are awesome. We are not into arts so we prefer strong academics over arts. I am glad that HiCap kids are clustered together: it's easier for them to find friends with common views. If they brag about being "high cap". I am going to surprise you: kids do brag about whatever they can find suitable to brag about: Adidas shoes, dad's Tesla, summar voyage to Paris or that they can kick their classmate in the face. Maybe, it's better when kids brag about being smart than when they are proud of being rich and shallow.

We had 4 children attend school at Moorlands over the course of 7 years. Good teachers! Between the 4 students we had many different teachers and saw 3 different Principals and who knows how many Vice Principals. Our experience taught us that Moorlands is a good school for only a certain kind of family/student. For others, it's just ok. For some who may be at risk or vulnerable, Moorlands may not be an adequately supportive place. There are some glarring equality issues at this school. Ability grouping is the norm and many kids see the same peers year after year in class because they are placed in classrooms based off test scores or perceived needs. They half deny this, but it is certainly what they do. In this school district, they have started to make each school host some kind of specialty program. At Moorlands, two areas that they seem to have focused on is what they call the "highly capable" program and also they seem to try to accommodate kids who are from other countries and speak only some English. As for the Hicap crowd, they do unfortunately get a lot of preferential treatment. If your child is in that group, you might like this school. Unfortunately, these kids do openly brag to their non hicap peers that they are in a more skilled group. The school regularly hosts play gatherings just for them, where participation in EAP or Hicap is required to attend. These social gatherings are only provided for highly capable students and the PTA is often advertising for and managing them. Some parents love this. Some parents struggle with it, because it's a very exclusive group and they may have other children at the school who are not in an accelerated classroom and they then see the considerable disparities. IEP support here is moderate. They have in the past tried to get kids who need a lot of accommodation to attend other schools in the district that focus more on those services. This is flirting with a dangerous kind of segregation with disregard for vulnerable children. This school has a gorgeous play field, which is actually a city park, and not officially part of the school, so the campus is completely open and there is actually no way at all to protect against possible violent intruders. This school has no art other than parent volunteers and teachers may treat the art docent time as a bit of a neusance. They have a great choir! There was no onsite band or orchestra instruction available during the years we attended. No drama. 5/10 overall.

Good to very good. There are a few old and grouchy teachers that really need to retire but are probably holding out for a better pension or something, but overall the teachers are very positive and productive as well as educated and patient about various learning styles. Honestly it’s the older teachers who just don’t have the patience reserve and perspective to deal with the ADHD kids or those with hidden disabilities. Most of the teachers are excellent and the PE and Library programs are TOP level. Their enrichment or “specialists” are very good. Me. Tenant is a ledgendarily awesome PE teacher to kids in the community. The library is fantastic, but underused as an after school facility as it does not host book clubs, culture clubs or after school music instruction.

The school fosters an environment of caring emphasizing other character traits such as respect, responsibility, integrity, honesty, sharing and caring. We have been there for two years and have had only great teachers who go above and beyond expectations for their students. They have also done an excellent job accommodating students of all levels.

The staff and the parents MAKE this school the awesomeness that it is! The building is older, but don't let looks deceive,my kindergartner LOVES going to school! She has music, PE and library days, and get so many enrichments. I'm so sad we are moving away, but hopefully we'll find another school as good as it is here! (I only took off one start for the old building)

Moorlands has been a great school for our two children thus far. Their Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Hink was truly outstanding and their first and second grade teachers were also excellent. Mr. Santos is a caring principal that makes a point to stay engaged and personally help address any issues quickly. Staff does a great job with existing facilities and has managed spending well to focus on teaching materials and things that matter most to the students. Hopefully will see an upgrade in buildings soon to help them further.
