Horrible school. Principal Aaron was clueless and seemed scatterbrained at best. Teachers were obviously in clique groups and it was obvious who was being bullied. Instances of racism at all levels, again principal was out of touch and didn't seem to be in a leadership role OR even interacting with teachers and staff. Issues brought up to him were ignored or downplayed. he spent time hanging out talking to pet teachers he liked encouraging the "clique" environment. Teachers refused to wear masks and principal brushed it off but happened routinely. Bullying went unchecked and bully was sent BACK form principal after not being talked to, no punishment, and never being righted. I pulled my kid after about the 5th time of this - the teacher OBVIOUSLY had zero support from the principal and he acted too busy to care about anything school. If you want a school where the teachers and principal have never grown up, all just reenact high school, and ignore your child and real world issues, then this is the school for you.

I despise this school, and I am in the process of switching schools with my children! They will never go to JSCD again!

This school is terrible. I attended here K-3rd grades, and the teachers would try brainwashing you into telling your parents to vote for certain political figures and for measures. It is horrible. I assume they continue doing that to the children- which is completely sick. Their counseling system is also not very effective. Don't send your kid here if you don't want them coming home telling you to vote for a political figure. Overall I am ashamed of having to go to this school, I am very glad we moved to another city.

I would have to say in my opinion school needs to improve in so many ways, unorganized attendance, my child has been marked wrong multiple times. Children need a support system when they need it. Not when THE TEACHER desides they need it... there are many things that need to improve... i wouldnt suggest anyone take there children here.

I had four of my five children attend this school after making a few large life changes over the past few years and attending a handful of schools. My kids ranged from 4th grade down to kinder. The staff and teachers are amazing!! Ive never had a school so involved with each student. Teachers would call just to say they had and amazing day with my child. The office staff knows you as soon as you walk through the door. Unfortunately we moved to Harrisburg, but are looking to purchasing a home in JC just to get the kids back into those schools. Its an amazing town with a lot of potential. I would highly recommend this school. My kinder also has some medical issues that the nurses and teachers were very passionate about. Always made her feel welcome and not out of place. Very supportive team!!

We relocated to the area from out of state last year and enrolled our kinder and fourth grader at Laurel. We were extremely impressed with the staff, community involvement, teaching team and their response to inquiries or children's unique needs. Our oldest moved to Oaklea this year but our first grader has the most AMAZING teacher and our special needs child has received the support, encouragement, growth and intervention needed for a lifetime of success. I highly recommend this school for its small town charm and exceptional staff!

We are new to this school, our daughter comes from a 9 rated school and this one is a 4, it wouldn't be so bad but she was at the top of her class and school before and loves math, reading and homework as well as science. This school, at least her class, offers a lot of cutting and pasting, math once a week, science every couple of weeks, two papers of homework for a whole week. If your child is into learning at a great rate steer clear of this school! The staff remembers names which is impressive, but they are not the warmest folks around. I have been a volunteer at most of the schools my daughter has gone but it's hard getting into this one. It is really hard for me to rate this school, academically it's a less than 1. They do try and teach a social structure which is good, but my daughter woke up this morning and said "Mom, I don't want to go to school today" when I asked her why, she said "because I am not learning anything" that is a very sad statement coming from an 8 year old.

I feel that Laurel is a diamond in the rough. Laurel is an amazing school with wonderful staff and students. I transfer my children in from another school and I love the choice I made. Laurel Elementary School is a family and it shows!!

Working on our second 'generation' of kids at Laurel Elementary. First group is in high school and couldn't be more proud of the foundation they received while at Laurel. Because the school leads in the way they are fully committed to the children: parents and the community also give and participate to a large extent following by example. Our current elementary kids are seeing the same if not better school this time around. The school has a diverse staff, good programming/scheduling, multiple volunteer groups, and a rich learning environment that still includes art, music, and PE. So wonderful.

This school is focused on the kids. It has amazing teachers, many of them new in the past few years that have been subbing at our school for a long time and have replaced retired teachers. The parent involvment is wonderful and community service is substantial. The extra curricular activites are enriching and the art program put on by the Parent group is fantastic. We have one of the only Self Contained classrooms in the County starting with Kinders and continuing through our 4th grade, a fantastic special ed department as well as a wonderful TAG department. I would highly recommend this school to anyone in or around the Junction City area.
