Like many of the other reviews state, this school has gone downhill. I can name on one hand (three fingers) how many teachers actually care about their job and take it seriously. One of my children went here and then to Franzon and they are learning so much more over at Franzon than at Benson. Benson had my child at least 2 to 3 grades below where they should’ve been. Never learned grade-appropriate math. Very very disappointed in the school. I don’t believe it’s a principal‘s fault. I believe it’s a superintendent who also doesn’t care and only wants money. A.k.a. the lottery for preschool regardless of special needs or not.

Like another rater stated, the school has gone downhill over the past few years. I heard so many great things about this district and was excited to get my daughter started, but for some reason she's not learning what she should be and has been placed in "extra help classes." When asking the teachers why, I never received a response. When testing my daughter at home, I find no issues. Next to no diversity, no extra-curricular activities unless you go through the park district, no hot-lunches served, you have to pay for the school bus, and they completely failed to transition to remote working during COVID.

Teachers are parent pleasers and not doing their job of educating. Itasca has really slipped in the last ten years. Teaches are unprofessional and very rude to the community.
