My granddaughter was bullied at the school throughout 7th and 8th grade. By the end of 7th grade, after multiple attempts to stop it, we reached out to the principal, asking them to observe recess and see the situation firsthand. We specifically request that they keep it discreet, hoping to avoid further harm to my granddaughter. Unfortunately, they did the exact opposite, which led to her entire class ostracizing her. Even the parents followed suit, making her, myself and daughter feel completely isolated. When we finally met with the administration to address this, the principal remained silent, and the assistant principal - who also teaches 8th grade English- was defensive, sarcastic, and highly unprofessional. Rather than addressing the bullying directly, the administration only suggests that my granddaughter meet with the social worker, and stay in at recess, which did nothing to resolve the situation. Instead, the outcome was that the entire class was discouraged from interacting with her. The administration allowed a vulnerable child to suffer, leaving her isolated and excluded, while they stood by. The assistant principal who holds herself out as a model of Catholic values, showed no compassion in practice. My granddaughter was left feeling hurt, rejected, an unable to socialize, while the school Community ignored what was happening. It pains me to write this review, but even more to have witnessed a bright, kind, and talented child endure this treatment. If I could rate the school zero stars, I would have. Please be cautious if you're thinking about sending your child to this school. Especially in the upper grades.

St. Philip the Apostle School is a wonderful place where children can grow academically and spiritually. One of the things that impresses us about the school is how the older kids are always so kind and supportive of the little ones. Principal Noonan and Fr. Varghese continue to show their commitment to fostering a strong sense of community, along with its focus on the individual needs of students, which makes this school an excellent choice for families seeking a Catholic education in the area. Whether you’re looking for a school that will challenge your child academically, or one that will nurture their spiritual growth, St. Philip the Apostle provides an environment where students can thrive.

Leadership lacks ability to create a fair and respectful environment amongst both students and families.Teachers are awesome.Little sense of community amongst families.Bullying is an issue at all grade levels. Bullying is not handled well. Not welcoming if you're different.

We’ve had a wonderful experience being at St. Philip. There are always great events going on, and that helps create more of the close knit community feel you wouldn’t have without a culture like this. The kids in the class know their friend’s parents and everyone watches out for the other. Associating the fun events and seeing friends at the same place as their daily education occurs makes going to school something to look forward instead of opposed. The curriculum is strong and the homework is manageable. The teachers and staff really know their students and are very approachable if you have any questions. We’re glad that we decided to become part of this community.

My granddaughter started at St Philip’s entering kindergarten. I’ve been through parishes in my lifetime but I have never been in a parish/school like here. This is not just a school, this is a community. Welcoming, supportive, inclusive family. The principal knows each and every child… by name! The upper grades help the little ones, room projects, in church, they sit together in Faith families, if a little has to use the bathroom they are escorted by an upper grade student out of church, to the bathroom, they wait for them and then bring them back into the church. The little ones are never alone in the halls. The little ones are never alone period. They are always supervised. Besides getting a great Christian foundation, my granddaughter can speak simple Spanish phrases and is quite computer savvy, which is huge for me because I am not! The Science and Math curriculum are outstanding. The things she knows at 7 years old is amazing. Security which is on everyone’s minds as of late, well I know our family breathes easier knowing how up to date security protocols are in place. There are family events, plays, musicals, Christmas Programs, welcome to our school, Welcome back to school, family Masses… too many things to mention! All this and there isn’t any one person you cannot approach and ask the simplest questions that will not only give you an answer… if they can’t they will tell you, go into the office, they’ll be able to help you. Why is that great? Well the Principle has an open door policy. No matter how many things she may have on her hands at the moment… you’ll get your answer. Did I mention she’s a completely hands on Principal? She’s always everywhere…I hope I have given more than one reason to consider this school… best move my family ever made. Wish I was in this Parish when my son was in Catholic grammar school… thank goodness my granddaughter has this opportunity. The morals, the values and high standards and top notch current education this school offers can’t be beat. We are very fortunate and blessed to be a part of St Philip’s School family. Yes indeed.

Decent school for primary grades, but a main area of concern is science and math. There is no accountability for lack of instruction. I feel that students will not be prepared for high school that attend this school.

Excellent school! I am glad that I made the decision to send my kids there. My oldest attended during middle school and said that he wished he had started there in kindergarten. I would recommend this school to anyone.

As a former student myself of St. Philip the Apostle, I know firsthand the phenomenal experiences, both spiritual and educational, that this school has to offer. Therefore, there was little doubt where I wanted to send my own children when it was time to choose schools. The teachers are warm and engaging, the curriculum is rigorous, and the atmosphere is one of a loving, Christian community.

St. Philip has been an excellent school for all of my children. Best in class academics with Catholic Christian values throughout. Outstanding and very caring administration and faculty. Very engaged and involved community of school families. By far the best PK-8 school in Addison, IL.
