This is the best school I have ever been to. After moving I get why this is top 50 in CA

I went here for 4 years until I moved on and it was an ok school. If you want to be treated terribly compared to everyone else (if you aren’t in the 54% Asian) then it’s ok. But it not, I wouldn’t really recommend. The teaching is understandable but the teachers are really biased and don’t care to hide it. They can also be really rude and blatant. There is a very big difference in how people are treated and the mental heath/bullying psychologists/counselors don’t help. They aren’t with you they’re against you and will not try to be on your side if you’re getting bullied. They always try to find the quickest way to get you out of their office and to make you not say anything. I used to get bullied and they would not help a lot. I had to figure it out mostly myself. Overall a 3/10 school. Ok teaching, bad counselors and terrible treatment to others.

We couldn’t be more thankful to have our son attending to this school and are so glad we moved to Orchard Hills. They won the Robotics World Champions title out of 550 teams around the world! Everyone including the Principal, the Teachers, and the PTO are a class act and really care about the students. They are equipped with the latest technology to prepare and set our kids for success in the future.

Parking is horrible. Why didn't they let students out to the back parking near the visitor parking, instead of the gym?. That's way the line curve in the school more flowing and the traffic on the street will be better. Traffic line is backup all the way to culver/portola and take at least 20 min to get to school

Dropp off and pock up is a nightmare, parking is always an issue. Math teachers for 7th and 8th grade honors class are not attentive, they do the minimum. It takes them months to correct the exams and they submit the grades last minute. The 8th grade Math honors teacher, is only there to collect a paycheck as he is always involved with his growing family and literally takes months to correct the exams, he skips teaching and completing the curriculum, he assigns projects to boost the grades, while students put so much effort in completing the project, he doesn't even care to grade the projects. He is full of empty promises, I believe teachers should be a role model for students and not cut every corner and be so unreliable, very disappointing. Honors Language arts teachers are great, orchestra teacher is a stellar but Spanish teacher is only there to get the students and give students hard time, but she has full support of administrators.

My child has attended here from 5th - 8th grade, as an honors and gifted student. They have changed principals twice since then. There are some stellar teachers, like Ms. Chung (5th grade), Mr. Perkins (music), and strong math and science teachers (Mr. Nguyen, Mr. Kim, Ms. Jennings, Mr. Ro, Ms. Li). The middle school core teachers can be hit or miss - some of them have been teachers so long, it doesn't matter what they do, they won't get fired - of course, the protection that bad teachers enjoy from seniority status is a nationwide problem, not just here. It is a newer school, lovely facility and nice classrooms, but they have a real problem with traffic for drop off and pick up of children because it is K-8 and the parking lot was poorly designed and way too small. They have a small track, but no soccer or football field - the field is owned by ducks and geese who poop on it. Also the demographics listed on greatschools are incorrect - I would say the ethnicity at this school is about 80% Asian (mostly Chinese, Korean, Filipino), followed by Indian, Hispanic, and about 7% Caucasian, and I can count the African Americans on one hand. This is a reflection of the affluent area of Orchard Hills, which attracts a lot of wealthy, well-educated migrants.

My 7th grade daughter is currently attending the school and has been attending since 5th grade. We've never had any bad experiences with any of the teachers, staff, administration or district employees. The teachers in particular are extremely adept at bringing the best out of all the students and take time both in and out of the classroom to make sure that everyone performs to the levels that they are capable of. Parents and students alike are kept in formed about emerging issues on campus and changes at the school, even throughout the Pandemic. If you have the opportunity to send your children here, especially for middle school, I would strongly recommend you consider Orchard Hills as your top choice.

My son attends Orchard Hills School currently and we can't say enough positive praise for the hard working staff and dedicated parents. Whenever there is a need for volunteers or (optional) donations from parents, the need is quickly filled. I've observed families to be very friendly to each other and personally, our family has been invited to frequent play dates/birthday parties. Academic progress is sent home weekly through work samples and our teacher is always quick to respond to emails. We look forward to our parent teacher conferences, she shares so much information on progress and she genuinely cares so much about all her students. Such a wonderful environment to grow and learn in.

I personally am a student’s parent and she is writing the review. So this is what a lot of parents want to hear from. Basically I would rate the school 1/5. Bullying is not considered, drugs are constantly going around, and staff are taking your money as if your cash does t matter to them! All the cash is going to the PTO and no one even knows what’s happening.

My daughter attends Orchard Hills and has had a very positive experience. The academic expectations are high but that is a good thing. The teachers have been very responsive and helpful when we've reached out them. One teacher seems away too frequently according to my daughter but all other teachers seem excellent and committed to the students. And it's a beautiful and relatively new school.

My child has learned so much since starting at this school. Teacher is friendly and effective. The school is clean and located in a nice safe area. Excellent school.

My son attended this school for 5th -8th. He was continuously bullied to the point where he had to fight back to defend himself (after 2 yrs of bullying). When he fought back, he got in trouble along with the aggressor. No matter how many times I spoke with the Principal/VP the issues continued. The "Duties" on the playground don't do anything when there's a bullying incident and turn the other way as if they haven't seen anything. Very unhappy with this school.

It looks like the one stars are old reviews pre-dating 2015. It is now 2019, and both my girls attend Orchard Hills - one in elementary and the other in middle school. They are both thriving. The teachers are excellent, class sizes are reasonable, and we have a strong parental network.

Excellent. Teachers go above and beyond and are amazing!

The teachers are amazing. There is a lot of homework. It's really easy to make friends, and there is little to no bullying. The tech here is very advanced, so that is a plus. The students here are very smart, so it's a fairly competitive school.

A great school take three elements - student, school staffs and parents. Lacking one component will not make you find good school for any child. OH has great teachers, very helpful admin staff, and great leadership. I really feel that they work as team to help students to be better each day. It is sad that principal is leaving for better position, but TUSD will find a even better one for this community. My child had a great year in middle school and this is the best year in 7 years school life (k to 6th). The curriculum for Math, language art, science is very challenging which keep up with new common core standards. There are so many elective courses to choose from, NEST for middle school expose them to new things. Students given a lots of opportunities to find their elements at Orchard Hills. Students here are very friendly and positive, more focus on academic and their future. I cannot say toooo many good things about Orchard Hills...

This has been a terrible year for my child. Recently, my child has been physically bullied at this school. My child, immediately went to the front office and wrote out an incident report on what had happened. I was relieved that my child went to the office and reported. My child told me that the administration was sorry for what had happened and would deal with the issue immediately. As a parent, I even emailed about the situation making sure it would be taken into consideration. For about a week, I still hadn't gotten a reply back from the school. But now, it has been 3 months since the incident, and the school has taken no action. They didn't call my child to the office to talk what had happened nor had they talked to the bully. I recommend any parent considering taking their child here, not to. It is not worth to enroll your child in a school that does not care about their students' troubles.

this school is such a terrible enviornment for my childerent. my childeren is feeling mad becuase about how the teachers are inexperienced and how my childeren has to go on the web to find out what they are learning about. a normal teacher would help to make sure that the students are learning. overall, the technology is great but te learning envionrment is not

orchard hills had just proved their selves to not deserve to be standing. I feel like they had been unfair to my children. The administration does not care for the student's well being. Instead, they focus on their self image.
