We love the leadership, education, and fellowship with St. Ambrose! There has been such great improvements with the school and we’re happy to be a part of the SAS family!

My family and I have been extremely impressed with St. Ambrose. The teachers and administrators are stellar and the academics are top notch. They continuously strive to improve the growth of all students and have recently added an Academic Success Center for dedicated support to aid in academic growth for all students. The community is genuine, fun, and supportive.

Unclear communication among principal/staff, lack of professionalism, and there is much favoritism and bias. The change of principal did not improve much. The Catholic values of equal respect/fairness towards everyone are far from represented.

It is a fairly average school. I agree with the some of the previous reviews about the overall environment/attitude. And some of these recent comments also sound as they were solicited.

Great experience, love this school. The staffs are very friendly and kind. Teachers are experienced in their subjects and passionate about teaching. They teach with a heart and are dedicated to helping students succeed. They are certified, even with their masters and PhD. My kids are welcomed and loved here. They love St. Ambrose and very proud and happy to be a part of this great school. I definitely recommend this school to any parents who loves their children and wants to give them the best.

As a former student I have a lot to say about this school. Just as other reviews have mentioned, there is an obvious favoritism towards certain students and families. Teachers from the lower grades from around PreK to 1st grade made cute nicknames for some students and paid more attention to them than any others. In the junior high classes, teachers would give certain students special incentives, take time out of class to engage in off topic conversations with them, and make up their mind about other students based on the gossip fed to them by their favorites. When there was any mention of bullying being done by the school’s favorites, you would watch these kids get called to the office and be glad they are finally getting punished for their actions, only for them to return smiling and bragging about how the dean or whoever just LOVES them. I was bullied many times at St. Ambrose but it was by the child of a teacher, the child of parents who donated generously, and a student who was every teacher’s favorite. There was nothing I could do and it still frustrates me years later.

This school has many of the same negative reviews online to start but, here is where my review gets the 1 STAR which should be a no star! The administration staff are unprofessional and lack communication etiquette. This begins with the principal Ms. Sarah McDonald. I am being VERY polite when I say this school is an EMBARRASSMENT to the catholic school community. I do not recommend any parent send their child to this school. (2 other schools geographically near) We are paying for our children's catholic school education and certain level of respect should be given to the parent/guardian. This school and staff have seem to forgotten or worse. We chose a school for many reasons for our children. Teachers, classroom curriculum, school environment and staff. St. Ambrose Catholic school does not even meet the very bare minimum standard of any listed above. I will also be sending out my notifications to the Catholic School Superintendent about our families horrible and offensive experience.

Incredible. This school invests its resources in the staff and provides a nurturing, loving environment for a child to learn and grow in.

I was very happy with my experience at St. Ambrose. My daughter was well prepared and was accepted into her first choice Catholic High School.

As a college student reflecting on my experience at St. Ambrose, my parents and I have come to realize that attending this school for three years was one of the worst choices made during my academic career. Even if you look past the surface-level shortcomings of the school -a 30 year old curriculum, a dilapidated building, a measurable academic deficit in math and science, an awful arts program, and the total lack of a music or theater program- you will find chronic favoritism among the administrators towards wealthy families (who donate), and backwards, insensitive attitudes towards students who are deemed "different". Racist bullying wasn't just common amoung students- it came from teachers as well. A Pakistani student was called into the office and forced to cover a henna (a non-permenant skin design) that she received at a traditional wedding she attended. She left the office crying. Another South Asian student was jokingly called a terrorist repeatedly by students directly in front of a number of teachers who did absolutely nothing in response. My close friend was made fun of for having "Asian eyes" and there were zero repercussions for the kids who did it. A student with Aspergers was yelled at repeatedly by teachers and staff who didn't understand his condition. You would be doing your child a disservice by sending them to this school to be exposed to such sheltered and backwards thinking.- A Former Student

The teachers are simply amazing. Full of love. I've not experienced any bias towards any particular children or family. We're blessed to have been able to find such a place to help keep our children safe, happy, and well-educated.

We have been at St. Ambrose for quite a while and have had two children attend. Our oldest has done very well academically and has had a good relationship with the teachers. However, the administration is very difficult to work with. They are often cold and dismissive of concerns and problems. Bullying is a very real problem that seems to just get blown under the rug, especially if it is coming from a student of a "prominent" family. The administrators very obviously have favorite families and favorite teachers and it doesn't seem to make a difference how many times a complaint or concern is brought up. It is also quite obvious at various family involvement events just who the "favorite" families are. If you are not a part of the "in" crowd, you are ignored. There is no effort made to make you feel welcome and appreciated as a tuition paying family. We chose to move our second child to another school because of these reasons. It was a very good decision!

This school tolerates bullying. Many of the students are mean spirited and do not demonstrate the morals and values that the school is supposed to teach. The girls are so rude and hurtful to others. We did not expect to see this here. We have known several kids who have left the school for this reason. One girl threatened to commit suicide because of the bullying.

The social environment is very very poor with bias between the leadership of the school and their "favorite" kids or parents. They have their "picks" with students. Academically it is fair but this school does not provide a good learning environment for the student. The facility is very very old. The good side is that the teachers are all well equipped with advanced degrees but the learning environment is still poor.

We have been at the school for six years now. The teachers are very loving, caring and personalize curriculum for the children who need it. It has a low teacher student ratio. Everyone is like family there!
