It's a great place to learn, if you love learning nothing! Forget about teaching; it's all memorization and grades. It's almost like they don't want us to succeed.

This is a nice school, updated, clean, and the teachers are (broadly speaking) accepting and helpful. It is a bit overcrowded, however. As a very anxious person I was terrified to attend here, but quickly learned that this is so much better than any school I've ever been to. I went from not being able to attend school, to going about my day without feeling anxious hardly at all! Wide variety of classes and club options. I can finally feel comfortable at school again, and I am beyond grateful for this. Looking forward to my next few years here.

This is a horrible school. They do not care for their students. The are just pushing them all through the system. If they get a bad grade in a class they don't make them retake the class.

Both of my kids went through the high school. Wonderful teachers who really care, and the women in the office are great. School board is very progressive and supportive of public education.

We are very disappointed in Holmen High school. They use a 4.33 grading system, allow students to "retake tests for a better grade", and the high school is over crowded. Most recently, Holmen High School scored miserably on standardized tests. Math and reading scores are down right embarrassing..around 40-45% proficient. Our property taxes are very high...we don't know why, when this town has no amenities what so ever... not even a coffee shop, yet over 53% of our property taxes are allocated to the school system. I wonder where the money is being spent. Do yourself a favor and send your child to Onalaska.

I am profoundly disappointed in the Holmen High School. Our son transferred in with a 4.0/4.0, however the school is on a 4.33 grading scale and they made no effort to convert the scales. This dropped his class percentile from about the 98th% to the 84th% just for being transferred in from outside the district. This happened to another 4.0 student at the same time and the Principal just wants to bark at parents for advocating for better.
