Putting aside the fact that MRJH is in the top 20% statewide in proficiency scores, my kids like to go to school there. That speaks volumes to me about the teachers, counselors, administrators, and other students. As a parent, I’ve enjoyed helping with the science fair, 5K fun run, school musical snack bar, academic awards night and a variety of other activities. Our family has had an overall great experience there.

I really dislike this school. It’s really dark in the hallways. The school is also very competitive, it’s hard to feel a sense of unity with the other kids.I would not recommend.

I've sent 4 of my kids to Mtn Ridge. The first 3 did pretty great. They finished 9th grade on honor roll all three years and one received an award for the outstanding student in a specific department participated in. They are students that would've done great anywhere though and wasn't specific to Mtn Ridge, it was their own personalities, interests, and personal drive. My 4th child started out alright, but not great in 7th grade and then began to struggle by the first of 8th grade. I reached out to teachers and admin with concern and needing more eyes on this child and input. Self-esteem was lowering, grades suffered, bonds with friends changed. This child became a follower with a few kids that didn't have a good reputation and got in trouble a couple times. I kept in contact with the school and teachers each time and I felt I was open and honest with them at our mutual goals and correction. I kept in contact with many teachers both by email and after school contact. My child admitted poor choices and admitted the struggle of trying to break free from a couple of persuasive bad influences. The 9th grade year things went worse and not because of friends and choices, but teachers and administration as well. It was hard talking to them because I felt they were two-faced and smiled and talked nice to me, but I got vastly different reports from my child...at times in tears. Not one to sluff, he did call me twice and told me he couldn't go to class because of names he had been called in the hall by teachers with students around listening. My student also was bullied in classes. Once occurred in a class where my child's head was resting on desk and listening, yet as the teacher walked by dumped some water from her water bottle down my child's neck and back in front of the class as the class then laughed. Teachers would look at my student in the hall and get eye contact and tell my child they had their on on them, but not in an "I'm here for you" type of way, more of an "I'm just waiting for you to mess up" type of way. I had my child come home from school in tears, wake up not wanting to go, I felt trapped as a parent. I felt damned if I do, damned if I don't about sending my child to school. I felt they were hypocritical with their "character" building sessions, by talking about values in classes, but not living them as faculty.

This school is great! There is a great band program, great staff, great schedule, the only downside is the tardy policy. Other than that, THIS SCHOOL IS AWESOME!!!

This school is amazing! It's been an amazing experiance. I don't know what my middle school life would be like had I not gone here. I highly recommend it. The only thing that is keeping it from getting a star up from me is respect issues. Many of the students here do not respect me or the teachers making it hard to learn and have a good experiance. One of my highest issues has been a problem around the school lately. Kids have been putting pictures up of North Korea's Supreme leader Kim Jon Un, in display cases and what not. I find it very offensive that there are youth here soluting this man in the hallway and thinking he is a good person. Other than that its certanly worth it to come here!

My son is a seventh grader at this school and has had a terrific experience so far. The teachers have been excellent to work with, and the orchestra program has been amazing!

This is the worst school ever. I transferred into this school for a fresh new start. The moment i got there they went over alot of rules, NO JERSEYS FROM OTHER SCHOOLS It was due to gang issues. My first few days where not to good. Within the first 4 months i switched schools. WHY? because the teachers and staff was horrible. One of the two front office ladies was soo rude and had a bad attitude. I will never be returning to this school again. I hope the school is reading this review right now and are looking into the horrible teachers and front office lady.
