I really love this school and am glad my daughter has received the extra help she needs. I would highly recommend it to other parents.

If you are interviewing with this school or Craven County Schools, I'd advise you to be careful. I was told that I'd be notified either way after taking the time to interview. That never happened. The principal did not respond to an email. I hope you don't receive the same treatment.

I absolutely love the principal, Mrs. Falkinbery. If you have any problems, see her, she will help. All of the staff is friendly. I do like uniforms, it's so easy just to put them on the kids instead of fighting about what they are going to wear. We go out of district and the board of education is going to force us out of this school and we are very disappointed. I feel our kids are safe at this school. I also feel the staff is against bullying, we've had a few incidents but it was taken care of immediately. So thanks to all of the staff at HES for welcoming everyone and ecspecially Mrs Falkinberry for knowing our kids!

I absolutely love this school I have a child in Kindergarten this year! There are uniforms which I love makes it super easy to get ready for school and they are not as strick with it. Girls can wear super cute tights or knee high socks! I have another child that attends Arthur Edwards Elementary has went to this school for 5 years! I have to say I actually enjoy Havelock better! The Principal at Havelock is a 5 star knows every child by name and is very personable. I highly recommend this school. I have had no issues at all with this school. We are military and have been in the area for 9 years. Havelock elementary is a great school! Very clean and super nice teachers that care about the children.

My son goes to Havelock Elementary school and I am so happy with the staff and faculty! They all go above and beyond to be there for the students and parents. We are military and where we came from wasn't to North Carolina standards so they tested my son to make sure he was placed where he would grow and learn the best! His teacher realizes he works above grade level and challenges him where he needs it, but also guides him in the areas he needs extra help.

The horrid decisions by the boe made this happen. Promises to the children by the counselor to assist the transition have been ignored. Dspite the fact that the BOE claims it is a wonderful school, the staff seems to have no idea what to do with children who are performing above their grade levels, instead choosing to keep them in line with the rest of the students...which makes for some very bored and disgruntled gifted children and their parents. Both of my children are reading above grade level, yet are kept confined to books that are mid-range for their grade level...a case of "going as fast as the slowest person." In short, my children have no challenge, have had promises broken to them, and furthermore, if the BOE manages to pass the modified schedule, children will be once again sent to another school. There is no sense of identity among students and they fear making friends who they may lost nest year due to further realignments. The teachers appreciate volunteers from parents to replace the TA's that have been ripped from their midst. Seriously looking into home schooling.

On the final leg of finishing my third year of having a child in this school. Third principal in three years, but each one has been a step in the right direction. Current principal is excellent, the kids all know and love her and vice versa. Don't want that to sound overblown, but they had a contest this year and one of the prizes was lunch with the principal. Wouldn't have been a motivator at any school I ever attended, but her influence is a strong positive. This school really feels like it is on the way up and I look forward to seeing how it continues to improve in the future. I have found the teachers and staff to be very accommodating to our requests for explanations or other assistance with getting my children the education they require. I've heard varied feedback about the other teachers in the school, but I found the ones teaching my kids to be first rate. Amount of homework seems to be fine. Year round calendar here, which has pluses and minuses. Minuses are multiplied if you have kids attending the local Middle or High Schools on a traditional calendar. For some reason ($?) busing is never efficient; they ride the bus an hour when we can drive there in 10-15 mins.

My daughter has attended this school for two years (K-1st) and we have had some small issues with the school but it was solved very quickly with parent-teacher conferences. I think that the teachers are really receptive to the parents and try and come up with solutions that best suit the child. The principal is very personable and the office staff seem to know every child who comes in there. Overall, I have been happy with the way that this school operates and my child is happy to go to this school.

I am a former student and 3 yrs ago, when I went there, they had great test results, excellent teachers, and satisfactory tests. I never had a bully in the 6 yrs I was there.
