I attended this school in the 90s. At the time I couldn't appreciate the one-on-one, interaction with my educator. I didn't see how a small classroom helped, but I did see my grades increase. In my undeveloped brain, time out sucked. I wasn't able to understand that I needed to calm down, recenter, and focus on the work at hand. Also stop being a disruption and distraction to other students. Whatever issue I had at the time was not a result of the school, but of what was going on at home, my childish immature impulses, and lack of discipline. ( I can only imagine what it's like today with the smartphone, internet, and misinformation affecting undeveloped brains) ( and I say I'm developed not as a discreditor but scientifically young brains aren't developed maturely until at least 25 years of age) I will say the close interaction with teachers and staff, the curriculum, and general interest shown by all staff was a great learning experience. As for the negative reviews, maybe you're the problem, not the people and teachers dedicated to realigning you on your path to success in life. Because obviously if you're there, if you've lost your way somehow. Stop being spoiled brats. Pull yourself up and be the best version of yourself stop blaming other people

I still have PTSD from this school putting me in a dark wood closet for hours. When i say they lock kids in closets, i mean it.

I still have trauma from the time out spaces and rudeness of staff. Thinking about this school and how it’s still running makes me sick.

There was no academics and staff are not well trained. The time out spaces are extremely small and inhumane. The wonderful “tea house” in the back is never used and is only for display. The staff and principal are rude and inconsiderate of both parents and students.

It would be helpful to understand credentials of the staff as this information is not available on their website. I found the staff to be intimidating and uncollaborative. I also found the school to be punitive in nature with their time out system which consists of small closets for their students. I found the tea house outside cute and zen and they say on their website that they use the tea house for classes, but this is not true. Students are sent to time out for behaviors over which they may not have control but the root cause is not explored.

This school has negatively impacted my college experience both on an academic and social level. The only way your kid can be accepted as student there is if they sign a waiver/contract to allow the teachers to send them to time out. The parents make their kids do this! The curriculum doesn t teach age appropriate topics very well, the teachers often don't know what they're doing. I ask you this, if you asked an18 year old how many words they can find in Rainy Monday they'd feel insulted, or angry and think you take them for a fool! There are three time out rooms all the sizes of shoe closets that aren t high enough, they have a little window and a circular hole for a door handle which can give you splinters. What if a very fat or obese person goes in the room, can they get in and out easily? What about a fat and tall person? I once saw a tall skinny kid and in the room and his neck was bent down because it wasn't a tall enough room! He could get a neck ache/sore neck maybe even a medical issue! What if there was a person on a wheel chair, could they get in a room. What if that person was fat and tall? What if someone had a cold? The rooms don't get sanitized after each use! Gross!
