What is the point of going to this school even there is more high school near Hamden? Some teachers act like they are children. Also, they are doing a "say something" campaign but never works they just doing it for performance. I don't feel safe in school.

Hamden High provides not only a great education to all but also to those kids who are looking for something extra, be it sports, band or orchestra, drama, etc. Many dedicated teachers and staff too! Our three kids attended and all were well prepared for college and beyond.

Hamden High is wonderful. We could not ask for a better high school for our children. If you want academics, HH has them. Great clubs? Check. Sports? check. Want your child to learn to understand people who are different from him or herself? Check. Hamden High is a very special place. If you're lucky enough to live in Hamden, you're lucky enough- definitely give this high school a look. We are so glad we didn't miss it.

We have had a wonderful experience at Hamden High- it's truly a hidden gem. Our son transitioned from a very small, private school to this high school, and he has been so happy here. The academics are terrific, at least in the high level classes. The teachers have been engaging, supportive and accommodating. We love how truly diverse this school is- there is no way this could be duplicated in the private sector. The resources for extracurriculars are amazing; any club or interest is available it seems. He is learning so much in every way at Hamden High- a great public school!

As a public school with 200 students it's difficult to address the varying needs of this population. It's as if they don't even try

I went to the school and took a honors classes. I got into every college I applied to. The school also offers a wide variety of sports, clubs, and elective classes

Both of my boys went to Hamden High, they used every resource that was available to them. Great sports program, great clubs. and great teachers. Great principal (Highsmith).

It's horrible. The students are all bad, some teachers don't even teach, and don't even get me started on the food. The school logic is confusing, the school is way too big, and lots of things are inconveniently placed. Plain and simple, don't go to this school!

Teacher quality: 2/5 School has declined over the past decade. Ranges from subpar to great teachers in the building. It is like a box of chocolates. Principal/Administration: 1/5 Administration created defensive barriers and there is no dialogue or trust between staff and administration. Us vs Them mentality. Administration needs to show leadership. Unfortunately incompetence is rampant amongst some staff and most of administration. Parent Involvement: 2/5 Depends on the level of the child. Ex. 9/AP level parents during open house = no seats available. 5 and 7 level parents = 3-5 parents show up. Parent involvement is key in helping students succeed. This is sad considering it is coming form a teacher who has been here for a decade now.

Quality of education at this school seems to have declined during the last four years of my child's attendance, as have administration and overall teacher and parent involvement. Sadly, the town's politics may have a part to play in conditions at the school as well since funds are cut every year so programs and teachers are lost.
