The teachers aren't bad it's the administration they've harrassed me for appraching the teacher about my son and for telling them that the way they treat my child is unjust. They've made multiple demeaning comments to my child in front of my face, they hire personnel that are questionable at best and their demeanor to solving problems in the classroom is absolutely horrid is like they dont care they just like to say they do. I would never ever recommend this school to anyone it is a living nightmare and my child is having nightmares so bad he's affraid to wake up alone and has even started hiding in the morning with the prospect of not having to go to school. This school needs to be investiagted and/or the people in administration and management need to be fired as nothing other than the teacher works here.

Nellie K was definitely not what I expected. The principle was never available to speak, she would always have a reason why she wasn’t available. The teacher my son had was everything except an educator (prefer not to share name) She was definitely there to criticize the kids instead of helping them. It is very sad as a parent to come across a school like this, since kids are spending majority of their time in there schools. Thankfully my son was only there for one year. All I know is my son get very emotional every time we bring up this school and teacher that’s how horrible our experience was.

Awesome school with caring and helpful teachers, a wonderful Principal, a supportive Assistant Principal, and friendly office staff. NKP is second home to all students and all the volunteering parents. A pioneering and progressive public school that kids love going to every day!

My son is new to the area this year and he was so scared to start school. He's thriving, loves his teachers and classmates, and is having an overall positive experience!

Concerns other should know about Nellie K. Parker Elementary School. Parker uses grade reading level to pick and choose who they want to promote and who they want to leave behind. I believe a child should not be left behind because of his or her reading level. Parker has a reading level, in which they hold standards too, great! Although they have these standards, Parker should have a reading program that is bullet proof to support these standards. In which, will guide the children to reach his or her full reading potential level and not fail or force a child to be left behind if the reading level is not met. Reading Academics is significant. I can appreciate Parker having strong intention for reading. What I do not agree with, is the punishment of failing a child or retaining a child for a whole another year in the previous grade, if the reading level is not met. Retaining a child can affect the child self-esteem, and cause the child to not have confidents in his or her self-ability. The child may not feel he or she will be able to catch up with his or her right-age school s peers. A domino effect of failure can rear its ugly head in the child future.

My child came from private school and was quickly embraced in every way at Nellie K. Parker. The leadership and teachers truly care about their students and are effective in every way.

They are a fantastic school, so involved with the students, teaching through positive reinforcement, having the students be independent and take responsibility for their actions while still nurturing the students, coaching them, guiding them and helping them to better themselves through academics and extracurricular activities.
