We have been at the Stanwich School for almost 5 years. It has been a welcoming and nurturing place for my children and they have grown both academically and socially. The teachers offer a hands on approach and true differentiation in the classroom. The parent/school partnership is valued and encouraged. We are excited to be a part of the school's growth and development and are proud of how far it has come in the short time we have been there. Stanwich truly is a unique addition to the Fairchester Independent School community and we are thrilled that we found it.

A strange experience. The feeling walking around the school was tense. Faculty appeared to be putting on a show and were good but mechanical. There just was that strange feeling that something was off plagued my visit. I was not happy to see a girl alone on the rock while faculty talked in a circle and many different small groups of children but no fun recess group game. After, parents came out of the woodwork to both sell me on the school and tell me to stay away. There is some odd stuff here. I rate my experience low. I have chosen another school with strong academics and social opportunities. It could be a better school than I rated but I just did not go much further.

I have three children at Stanwich School. Stanwich School has been our first choice of schools in Greenwich since 2006 and still is today. We wanted and receive an education for our children that kept them challenged and inspired. We are getting that. We are parents that value doing good for others, building good businesses and raising children that are passionate and positive about life. Stanwich is amazing for families that believe in making the world a better place. It is a community based school. Our sign of success comes from the feedback we receive about about our children from adults in all situations outside of school. We attribute that success to being value minded parents and Stanwich School. This School is a great fit for families that care about the world they live in. Lucky us to be part of Stanwich.

As a Father, Community Member and a product of an independent school, I felt it my obligation to finally sit down and write a review. Two of my children attended Stanwich. It was a sad and disappointing experience. Both of my children are bright, academically Stanwich met their needs. It was not nurturing and there were children in their classes who had serious behavioral issues. Class sizes differed greatly, as did the ratio of boys to girls. After school programs were offered the day school started. Teachers for the most part were good. We felt the school itself was not well run, especially for our child in the Lower School. We did not feel the person in charge of the Lower School was genuine or hands on. We now are aware a few good teachers have left the school. We are fortunate our children were accepted at another school, however, the transcript process was frustrating. They were sent in late, almost a month and a half after the teachers had submitted them to the office. I can understand how it must feel to be handed paperwork for another school, however, it is the decision of the family where to send their child to school. I wish more thought had been put into why we didn't want to stay, rather than the numerous calls about how Stanwich was the right school for us, or the tuition they were losing. There was no genuine conversation, more of a sales pitch. Our community needs Stanwich, I do hope they are able to find a strong Head of School. It certainly has a lot of potential in a great community.

Since Stanwich abides by the Stanwich 7 (Judeo-Christian principles), the children are expected to act accordingly. Highly recommended if your child is a high achiever. Great teachers, very committed to the kids.

Shocking to see the previous review, not because of its inaccuracies (which it has), but because a one-star sabotage rating of a school at which this parent most certainly saw a child grow in many ways, and at which the parent inevitably still has friends (and their kid(s) still have friends), is deplorable. The school is not perfect (no school is) but we love and are deeply grateful for everything Stanwich has done for our kids and remain fully committed to this special place.

Disappointing experience. Head of School announced he was leaving in March, 2015. Two months before the end of the school term. Emails sent out by board they were searching for an interim head. Many head teachers after 8-10 years of service are leaving, with their children. Some key administration left in place under qualified for their positions. Should you be considering this school for a short term solution, please look closer. Financially it is necessary for this school to keep every student they have. Transcripts and assessments sent on behalf of your child may not be accurate. Facilities depressing, financials do not support the promise of new school being built. Met many talented teachers. Unfortunately the good ones leave as well as families. Hard to feel a sense of community when students, their families and teachers are coming and going, some mid-year. Some class sizes are too large, others too small. Have a daughter? Ask how many girls vs boys at this school. Conservatively, one could argue 3 times more boys. After 17 years, the school has a lot more growing ahead before meriting tuition as much or more as other established schools.

We are Grandparents of a Stanwich Student. Even though we live out of State we are sent cards and school news. It makes us feel so connected, even though far away. Our Grandson has been there over five years, and will be graduating there as well. The public service and the excellent academic program, keep him completely engaged and challenged. Head of School Paul Geise and all the staff are amazing. We attended the STEM event this past fall, which we were able to meet and talk to Paul Geise, families and staff, made for a wonderful family day. We are very proud that our grandson attends and is part of The Stanwich School experience. Look forward to the STEM event next year!

We've been at the school for over 4 years now, and my children and I couldn't be happier (ok- we'll be even happier when the school expands physically!) But truly a special place.

Stanwich has heart! I have two children in Stanwich, one in IH and the other in JH. They both are thriving and loving the school. The quality of teaching is truly above par. Having the whole school on campus has been a remarkable transition to a school that is warm and caring. We chose Stanwich for it's values that it teaches to our children. A true asset to the schooling system in Greenwich.

My son's teacher yelled and screamed her students all the time. It was such a traumatic experience for him. Also school thinks more about their business than their students. Lots of FAKE at the school.

Our son has thrived at Stanwich for five years and can't wait for school to start next week. The academics are rigorous, which is why we selected Stanwich over all other private schools in Fairfield County (yes, we looked at ALL). We had high hopes for our neighborhood public school but transferred our son out after a disappointing few years. Stanwich teachers are excellent, always going above and beyond to help our academically-gifted son reach higher levels. And where he needed a boost, the teachers identified it, strategized with us and our son, and gave him the skills to address it. Stanwich is a perfect fit for our son in terms of academics, athletics, arts, social life and overall school environment.

Really disappointing school. Doesn't follow its own values of the Stanwich Seven. Academics are a joke because the teachers don't teach and no one is leading the school. This is just a place for kids whose parents want them to be in a private school in Greenwich. The cost is definitely not worth it. Look elsewhere.

Stanwich is the hidden gem of Greenwich. As a current parent, I am absolutely convinced that this school will be widely regarded as the standard of excellence in the region within the next decade. This is a school with heart and spirit and has a terrific staff that will test the limits of your child while addressing individual needs. My husband and I can't believe the dramatic strides our son has made in a short period of time and can honestly say that we found a great home for him. I can't fully express our joy to see his excitement in going to school every morning. I wouldn't consider anywhere else for our younger children.

I am thrilled with Stanwich. We moved from the UK with a 5 and 7 year old and this is the only school that was able to offer a comparable challenging education at this stage. Both children are thriving and being stretched. They have small classes and teachers that really seem to care and get to know this kids (admittedly not so hard in such small classes). The buildings aren't particularly pretty but the setting is stunning and there is lots of space to run around. My son thinks the biggest selling feature is the field trips.. that is nice but at the cost of US education I want learning and Stanwich has achieved that! we really couldn't be happier. And I have never written a school review before. As you can probably tell!

Come on. The only school from Greenwich recognized by JHU? Riiiight. Only high school in Greenwich with *secondary school placement* advisor. Enough said.

The Board of Trustees is committed to a PreK to 12 , coed, school in Greenwich. Johns Hopkins rated the best 10 schools in Connecticut and Stanwich was the only one on the list from Greenwich. The teachers are passionate about what they do and truly care about the students. My family could not be happier!

Stanwich is an outstanding school. My child is in his third year and absolutely loves it! Every afternoon he jumps in the car and can't wait to tell me about all of the wonderful things he has learned about or experienced during the day. We have had some of the most wonderful teachers who bring such a positive energy to the classroom and school. As a former teacher I am amazed by what is accomplished each and every day! We feel very fortunate to be able to be a part of this warm and welcoming community.

Fantastic school. Values-based education is special. I am a parent of multiple children at Stanwich and am extremely happy with the school. The faculty and administration are first-rate and really care for my kids and all of the other children at the school. The academic curriculum is comparable in rigor to what is offered at other private schools in the area and my children are really excelling thanks to the top-notch faculty. The values-based curriculum is not just something that is printed in the brochures but is integrated into every aspect of school life, which is what really makes Stanwich special. This uniqueness about Stanwich comes from the top and is radiated through the outstanding administration and teachers of the school. The school offers a compelling academic program and the extra-curricular programs and sports are all growing in strength every year. My children are very happy at Stanwich and I could not imagine them anywhere else.

Stanwich is an exceptional school that provides my children with excellent academics in a nurturing environment. Values are integrated not only into the curriculum but also into the daily interactions between students themselves and their teachers. The teachers took the time to get to know my children and embraced all aspects of them. I would highly recommend Stanwich.
