This school is over crowded and lacking diversity. Parent engagement could improve to help drive this school which used to have such a good reputation.

This school is being grossly overrated by locals trying to protect their property values! Now that I have moved, I can be honest! The truth is that many students at Eastern have a big challenge succeeding in many different ways! Little 1-on-1 since the staff is just plain overworked. Also…more students and less eyes equal increased bullying and other mischief. This is what the locals don’t want you to know. The teachers & admins are spotty… some good and some bad…as with any public school. This one is not as advertised. PLEASE don’t believe the reviews that make this school sound like it is A 10/10 & head and shoulders above the others… It is NOT. It is on par if not below the 2 others, especially for parents who are not willing to constantly be at the school chasing and following up. (Because communication is also an issue). My child struggled to get the attention of anyone for help… mostly because of the sheer number of kids being crowded into the building (which is about the same size as the other middle schools, who have almost half the student population).I wish they were more people being HONEST about Eastern middle school. But at least now my conscience is clear.

Staff is very friendly and teachers are very nice to kids, they try to help them when they have a chance, I think that it would be important for the school to have more character, and motivate kids to do more Community service.

We moved from Florida last year and I've done extensive research of the schools in Fairfield County. We chose to move to this specific area so my son could attend Eastern Middle School and I just couldn't be happier. The teachers are great and very supportive, always willing to help the kids before and after class. The staff was very helpful during enrollment and the principal is amazing. He knows every single child at school very well and keeps a close eye on them to make sure they're thriving. The kids are hardworking and kind, with very few exceptions. We made the right choice.

Okay so I attended this school for 3 years in the 1980s when it was still 7th-9th grades. So maybe my views are out of date. At the time, it was one of the best public middle schools in the country and the top of the 3 middle schools in the area. Academically it was strong, bullying was not tolerated (I was bullied and boy it was handled). Sports were encouraged, computer science was at the cutting edge (and this was the 1980s remember). If we moved from CA to the East coast, this is where I'd be sending my own kids.

Spoiled kids, entitled parents, mediocre teachers at best. Where else in the US does a public school plan a $1000 per student field trip every year????
