Canterbury School is the perfect school for my family. It is nurturing and challenging, simultaneously. It has been amazing to watch my child grow from shy and anxious to confident and assured. Canterbury offers children safe opportunities to try new things and grow in ways that will support them their whole life long.

We are in our 4th year at Canterbury and couldn’t be more impressed with all the school offers its students and families.

As the parent of two students first, and now as a staff member, I have been so impressed by everything I’ve seen at Canterbury. Our family has had a wonderful experience, and all of my impressions about the school have been confirmed from my “inside view.” The students here have such great opportunities – I was particularly blown away when my fourth grader came home debating whether she should plant her contribution to the school garden in the soil or hydroponically. This was about the same time her reading-reluctant brother came home from kindergarten starting to sound out words, six weeks into the year. We couldn’t be happier with our school choice!

What if your most trusted, sound advisors and teachers got together to create the best in education and child development and then constantly strove to not just maintain what they had but to make it, themselves and our families even better? That's what it feels like to be involved at Canterbury School in Greensboro, North Carolina.Grace, dignity, respect, celebration, delight, cherish, honesty, exploration, friends, love -- these words come to mind when we say Canterbury. Our two children (and our family unit) are currently receiving a PHENOMENAL education at Canterbury. We are still new to the school yet feel very welcomed by staff and fellow Canterbury families. Staff, board members and fellow parents are very professional and very healthy, balanced, centered humans beings - one the tremendous differences between Canterbury and every other school we have encountered personally or through friends and family across the nation. Couldn't disagree more with the negative comments put forth by the last two reviewers. Yes, there has been a change in the head of school which has also timed at the same point for a few staff when it was time in their careers to take a step forward or move closer to family or retire. The incoming head of school has a phenomenal reputation (we know families in Richmond who are sad to lose him) from a top nationally recognized school and word on the street is great about other new hires. Teachers and staff are positive, trusted and honest partners in the growth and development of our children. The Canterbury folks take the high road while getting on a child's level and do so with kindness, intellect, humor and respect.

I'd be very careful about sending your child to Canterbury. There is a huge staff turnover which typically signals unhappy teachers and poor administration. Teachers seem afraid of parents and therefore don't want to push academic standards. Administrators seem driven by enrollment numbers, rather than quality of education for students.

To give this school any star is only because of the teachers and staff. They're lovely! When it comes to community, this school is odd, highly self conscious and socially inept. I couldn't wait for the school year to end to take my children out!

This is an excellent place to send your child when you're a parent who is interested in learning beyond test scores. My daughter's classes have all been very hands on and interactive, they go far beyond sitting at a desk doing a worksheet. I appreciate that they still see children as children, they have two recess times per day, younger grades still have center time with play (dress up, kitchen, etc), , nap time, etc. My child has flourished here and while I would love a free public alternative, I have found nothing that comes close.

Our grandchildren have attended Canterbury since kindergarten and have had such a wonderful experience. They have had such wonderful, caring teachers. We are constantly amazed at how the entire faculty is involved with every child there. They are becoming such confident, self assured little people and I am sure it is because of the love and encouragement they get there. Love it!!

Canterbury Schools has a good and caring faculty, but the standards, particularly in middle school and in math, is not up to par. If coming into the school in a grade other than kindergarten, you will find it cliquish from both the parent and student perspective. Very small town and unwelcoming.

Canterbury is the best or one of the best private schools available in Greensboro. Teachers and staff are incredibly involved in each students life and interests. Small, sweet school that produces future leaders.

Our daughter has attended Canterbury since kindergarten, and I am thrilled with her progress academically and in every other way. Canterbury teaches the "whole child" and it shows. I am so thankful for the wonderful teachers and staff. The open door policy is fantastic.

My husband and I are so pleased with our daughter's experience at Canterbury. She is pushed academically, nurtured spiritually, supported and encouraged, involved, and excited about everything she is learning. The campus is gorgeous and the faculty and staff are approachable, likable and excellent at what they do. We love this school.
