This school does not allow there student to have there phone out during class they have to be in the faraday bags that the school provides. They say that you can take it out during an emergency (which a blatant lie) if you are bought without your phone in the bag you will be reprogrammed for not having your phone in the bag and then sent down to SRC. Then some teachers and members of staff had taken it to make your children put there phones in a shoe catAll the faraday bags do is provide a breading ground for germs that can now be spread to others and can possibly cause another epidemic among students. These bags are causing more problems than they are solving. This is never going to work because all the students are destroying the bags. The teachers are not allowed to let the students take their phones out of the bags. I would never recommend Northview Public Schools to anyone to send their child to.

I see many have the same experience with Northview High as I did. Seems there are two experiences, I wonder how that is decided? We adopted my niece who needed a lot of support and help after coming our of an already rough situation. Sadly Northview automatically labeled her and started pushing for Alternative Education. Knowing better I pushed for her to stay in the High School and asked for help and support. This was not received well they offered little to know help. When I asked about any extra help or support they would tell me to look to outside resources that they didn't do that. This school caters to one type of student and lets the rest fall to the sidelines. They think that their alternative option is some great place to send anyone who doesn't fit into their specifications and believe the alt is just a place for students to be set on the sidelines and forgotten. It a place they can just not have to deal with the students who may need extra help or attention, because Northview doesn't do that they are good with average not doing anything exceptional or that requires hard work.

I experienced NHS for myself, and man was it a breeze. I hardy ever felt challenged, and therefore, I felt like i didn't grow much mentally in my teenage years. I'm wondering who labeled this school a blue ribbon school. It's easy to get caught up in drinking and drug abuse. At NHS, not only is it normal for children to drink and abuse drugs, but you are considered a minority if you aren't participating in these events. Because poor behavior like this is so common, discipline is very minimal. Being caught with drugs or alcohol, you might get a slap on the wrist and get told not to do it again. I mean, if they actually punished the kids, they wouldn't receive such nice ratings. I grew up with drug dealers and pot heads around my house almost at all times. I would not let my children attend this school under any circumstances, and if you cared about you kids, neither would you. I am currently attending Central Michigan University, and I don't feel like NHS prepared me at all for college life. The teachers are willing to easily pass you so they can keep their test scores and other statistics as high as possible. If you were to put a NHS student anywhere else, they would surely fail.

This school has given me the stepping stones in moving on. I am now in a BS program in medical lab science from Grand Valley State University and i couldn't have done it without the skill set honed by the teachers and staff there. I have went through tough times when i was in school and the staff there gave me the ability to lift myself up and move forward. Without them I wouldn't be were i am now. Many of the teachers that helped me are now retired from there years there, however they have created a legacy in the class of 2008 and before. I could never thank this Blue ribbon school enough.
