We were blessed to find a school and church community for our girls at ABVM. Small class sizes, dedicated teachers, engaged families, Christian values, national blue ribbon designation and connected to improvement, continuous learning and feedback. So thankful to call this our girls’ home away from home.

Truely a disappointing school. 4 principals (1 ousted in the middle of the school year with very limited details), 2 priests (1 reassigned in the middle of summer) and 6 new teaching positions all within the last 3 years. Crazy! Definitely worth you while to check out other private schools in the area as this is not the one you want to be at.

I have two children that have been enrolled here since 2007. The Catholic faith is well integrated in the school day and Principal Franconi is fantastic. He listens to parents concerns and is very involved in classrooms and extra curricular events.

I have 4 children who attend Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary School. My oldest is in 5th grade now, and they have all attended since preschool. Since their first experience in preschool to the present, my husband and I have been impressed with the individual attention and encouragement the teachers and staff do their best to give to the students at ABVM. The students are definitely challenged in academics, in sports and the arts, and in their faith life. They are encouraged to work and study hard, engage in school and community projects, and to live their Catholic faith in their day to day life. We have seen our kids grow and mature within this nurturing environment over the years, and it has been a unique privilege also to be involved at the school as a parent. Because of the Christ-centered focus in education, ABVM School is a great place to learn and excel, but also to become a better human being.

I am a grand parent with 30 years of teaching experience in the public schools. Five in Grand Rapids and 25 in Forest Hills, all good experiences until I came to Assumption in Belmont. You could not ask for a more God centered , loving, caring environment. It is my pleasure to tell you ALL needs of our children are met with the most caring possible. It is amazing to me that as many needs are met by Kathy Ockaskis , a wonderful woman. Other needs are met by other teachers, too numerous to elaborate on. I highly recommend Assumption? My Grandchildren started here two years ago. They are so happy at Assumption. It took a few months for them to catch up with the other students but they did it and feel so good about it. The Teachers are wonderful with really high expectations for their students, and they do all they can to help their students reach those high expectations. The whole family is so pleased that the children are at Assumption.

We have been parish members here for 33 years. Our children graduated from Assumption West Catholic. We currently have 4 grandchildren in the grade school. Over the years we have watched ABVM continually improve the curriculum and offer other wonderful opportunities for learning new things through various programs. It's been a blessing to be here in this faith-filled environment with a wonderful family atmosphere. A Parent & Grandparent

This has been a wonderful experience for our children. The faith based teaching has helped to build a strong foundation for our faith. The addition of the theater group has given children, who might not otherwise be involved in extra curricular activities, a chance to use the many talents that God gave them and use those talents to give back to their community.

This is our youngest of 4 chldrens first year at ABVM. We have been involved in public, charter and other catholic schools over the past 21 years. ABVM is the Best choice by far. We feel we are part of an Amazing family. The education is top notch! We will be ready for West Catholic next year. The faith based education is truly a blessing for your family. The teachers hold each child accountable for their actions and help them to achieve a positive out come. If you are looking for a small church community that welcomes everyone on the North end of Grand Rapids, MI then ABVM is the one. Thank you all of welcoming us into your community and school.

This is a great school where kids are prepared to excel in high school, college and in life. Our three sons have attended ABVM school. It has provided them with a great education, it has strengthened their faith, they have made life long friends and it has brought us closer together as a family. Faith and service go hand in hand with academics here. All the families devote time and energy to make it a great place. The school is small and very supportive. The staff and teachers will take the time to get to know you and your children. They are committed to every student's success and well-being. Tuition is VERY reasonable-a real value for the high quality education and great experience provided. No place is perfect, but this school's full of respectful, caring and kind kids. The sacrfice a family makes to send their children to Assumption pays off in countless ways. The school has an outstanding reputation and tradition of excellence. Kids are able to participate and grow in whatever they pursue. We are thankful for the opportunity to send our sons to Assumption.

Academic's are great, kids are more prepared for high school when they leave the school. Sports and theater are wonderful extra activities for the kids to get involved with also.

ABVM is the best! We have graduated 3 of our 4 children from ABVM and the last will graduate this year. The oldest is on a 4 year academic excellence scholarship at Aquinas College. He was able to take 10th grade math at West Catholic his 8th grade year with cooperation between the 2 schools. Our second graduated from West Catholic last summer and is enrolled as a SOPHOMORE at Davenport University. Their foundation for learning and excelling is from ABVM. Current enrollment at ABVM is growing just go look. The staff is great and the teachers and programs from Math Counts, Science Olympiad, School Plays, Concert and Jazz band, Spanish Class, GRACEAC Sports, serve to help the children to be well rounded.

Our original expectation was to send our 3 boys to public schools in the area, but that plan quickly changed based on the quality of the public school district we would be required to send out kids to. ABVM was close by so we decided to check it out - we are so thankful we did. The sense of community and inclusion ABVM provides is second to none. We could not be happier with our decision. The teachers in place are wonderful and have a true passion for the students and overall faith experience. Over the last few years we have seen graduates of ABVM go on to public and private schools in the GR area and simply stated, they have excelled. The quality of the faculty and staff, coupled with the faith-based approach to education has been extremely rewarding for our family. We would highly recommend this school, regardless of your faith preference. The school is alive with energy and we are very blessed to have found this great institution.

We have four children enrolled at Assumption and couldn't be more pleased with the educational quality and sense of community we feel there. The faith based environment was exactly what we were looking for to build a strong moral foundation for our kids during their formative years.

Assumption is a an outstanding academic school. It is steeped in tradition and has a sound Catholic ethos. My own God Children have transferred from Forest Hills schools.

Last fall we went to Assumption to look at the school and speak with some of the teachers. Upon entering the school we were warmly greeted by a teacher who had no idea who we were. My child went into the classroom with the students and my wife and I went into the Principals office. The kids were very kind and always said "hi " or "hello" when we entered the hallway. My daughter is now enrolled at Assumption. My wife and I couldn't have made a better decision.

Assumption BVM school offers a Christ-centered education with excellent academics. My two kids are excelling in this environment. I have heard from a local high school teacher that Assumption educated children are better prepared for high school than other children are.

My children have been students here since 2010. They feel safe, loved and are academically challenged every day. Parents are very involved at the school and I feel that speaks volumes to the staff and students. The teachers are wonderful and continue to keep up with current standards. Our school has a computer lab, music program, art program, a wonderful gymnasium and we are building a science lab. We have many programs for those that need extra help, and they give extra challenges to those that need them as well. I'm proud to send my children to such a faith based, top notch school.

What a blessing ABVM is to our family and church! We appreciate the small classes, faith-based guidance, passion for education, the feeling of community among families and the love that is shown to our children. May our Blessed Mother continue to watch over our precious church and school!

We were looking for Christian-based atmosphere that provided a safe and academically-challenging environment for our children. We found it. We continue to be impressed with the quality of classes, the nurturing teachers and staff and the well-rounded education our children are receiving. I've not seen a more active group of parents - many of whom volunteer daily - to ensure all of the children are prepared not only today but as they grow through life.
