My son graduated from Goddard and I have two children there now. They really enjoy this school and love going to school. It's very diverse and has safe environment where they can make many friends and learn. I'm so happy they all went to Goddard. The staff are caring, helpful and highly communicative. They have many school activities for kids to participate.

This school is pretty amazing, the staff, and events are nice, basically everything is good. The only thing off is student behavior. As a 7th grader currently attending Goddard Middle School, I notice some behaviors from some students, are not always positive. But punishment from the school is always reasonable. I highly recommend this school because of the learning, teachers, and positive attitude of students, highly worth it!

PLEASE DON’T GO HERE! I’m a 13 year old student who has been too afraid to speak up about this but I don’t think anyone should experience what I did so I hope anyone thinking of registering their child here sees this. When I first arrived here everyone was very rude, especially the teachers. For 3 years, I experienced the most extreme type of discrimination and have been sexually harassed there 3 TIMES. This school never cares about the students and will have bias over any white student. The school seems to be rich, and they are, but they don’t spend the money on students but instead they use it on themselves. I felt so targeted and never felt safe at school. Please, if you identify as anything else than a white male do not attend.

Our child is so fortunate. The Principal promotes not just an outstanding educational standard but friendship, accountability, and participation in the community, to provide a well rounded student. All students are treated as equals.

I took my child out of this school after my experience last school year. My child needed extra guidance and help and wasnt receiving it. I fought for it, unsuccessfully. I as a parent was fighting for my childs rights to be tested and was treated like I didnt know what I was talking about by the administration. This went on all year. Some of the teachers are very good and compassionate and I want to give them credit. Some of the teachers are very bad and wont deviate from what they think the model childs learning style is. My child needed some extra guidance that some teachers werent willing to give. Infact, one teacher lashed out at my child repeatedly throughout the school year out of frustration. I completely understand other parent reviews. It appears that another parent had a great experience with their 6th grader so far this school year and thats great. That hasnt been my experience at all. Ive spoken to a lot of unhappy parents whos children have and are currently attending this school. This school is not all bad. They would really do well to fire some of the verbally abusive teachers.

My daughter is in 6th grade. The school goes out of its way to inform the parents prior to the beginning of the school year. Parents need to be involved in their students learning. Some of these reviewers probably lack in that area and lash out when things don't go their way. I believe it's an outstanding school. Some of these reviewers need to take their kids out of this school and put them in LAUSD. I'm sure they'll find out it's their son or daughter and not the school.

Weve had a terrible time this year with two 7th grade teachers, specifically one that is known in the community for bullying students, especially boys. Unfortunately this year my son was one of her targets. She is condescending, she belittles, she humiliates and she secludes (there is literally a table that she calls the barn). This history teacher has been at Goddard for over 20 years, this is no excuse to bully. Another 7th grade support teacher told my son infront of the class that he is a failure. My son is distracted and sometimes disorganized but very polite and respectful. If your child is not textbook perfect for some of the teachers liking, be very cautious. Dont expect to receive much compassion or extra support. The principal and vice principal are new this year, my only experience is with the vice principal and he is a calm mediator and tries to please both parents and teachers. The counselor Mrs. T is amazing and is there to help the children, and she does.

The school overall is an okay school but more than half the teachers are either to harsh on their students or don't care about them at all. The staff there including yard aids are clueless to a lot of what is going so they can't do much about it but hold motivational assemblies. If I could have a do- over I would have definitely gone to to the second closest school nearby. This is coming from a 3 year student at Goddard.

Goddard Middle School has some good teachers, but it also has some really poor ones in terms of teaching and academics. The old API test scores are more of a reflection of the high socio-economic status of the surrounding neighborhoods, the low number of EL students (English learners), not the reality of the poor instruction my spouse and I saw with some teachers. Look at other middle schools in as affluent areas, and many will have students who perform better and have more varied AP courses and academic-based and community service clubs offered on campus as well. The school should focus less on non-academic social activities and more on academics, teacher training, and oversight of the teachers on campus, classroom instruction, and their curriculum. In fairness to the administration, some of the problems may be the result of California's low academic standards and ratings in terms of public education and teacher tenure.

I personally hate this school... They spend all money donated to them for staff parties instead of more teachers so, many of the kids in sixth grade advanced math had to repeat it the next year. Also, the principle and vice-principle do not try to solve your problems; they just tell you what you want to here to so they do not have to deal with you. I know this because, when my child needed to be moved to a more advanced class, he said there was a waiting list and that my child was on it. But, when my child asked her teacher, her teacher aid that there was no waiting list. HORRIBLE SCHOOL.
