I only have great things to say about this school and I encourage anyone interested, to go to the school and schedule a tour or even a sit in for your child for a class or 2. That's what I did before sending my children here.

they keep the 4th grade teacher who has a special friendship with the priest. She can’t teach but she can attend to his needs. They keep raising our prices so they can pocket the money. They lost 30 kids this year that must tell you some thing. We talk among ourselves and we know why we are all leaving.

I graduated from Holy Family Grade School a few years back. As a college student, I can assure you that my review is as mature and factual as I can possibly make it at this point in my life. Most of the good teachers have left although there are still some left. New teachers are constantly being put in and taken out because of issues they have had with the principal. Basically, you aren’t well off if you aren’t on the principal’s side. I remember being stalked on my personal social media sites by teachers. The principal is only involved when there’s an opportunity to make money or when the school is being publicized. As an alumnus and sibling of a current student, I can assure you that nothing is changing. Same old favoritism from the principal and same old inconsistency. Any teacher with a 5 star rating is attempting to keep their job, any student with a 5 star rating was forced into giving a high rating, and any parent with a 5 star rating is either on the principal’s good side or doesn’t have a child old enough to understand the incocnsistency and unfairness going on. You’ll get a much better education from any other public school in the area or a nearby city. Until the principal changes, I don’t see a consistent future for students at HFGS.

Excellent! Principal Suelto, Fr. Jim, its Faculty, and strong parents made it to receive the Best Private School in Glendale last year. That is big. Enrollment went up by 20+ more students. Unfortunately, some folks aren't happy. You can't please everyone. Good luck everybody.

Just a suggestion to the principal & priest. Be creative and try asking help from California Lottery, rent out your gym or auditorium & accept filming. That way $$ will keep coming to your cup. Agree fellow parents?????

This will be our 3rd year in this school and all we can say is we love this school! My daughter just loves going to school, the teachers are well qualified and nurturing, and the students and her peers are all well-rounded. The staff is very helpful. The Principal is very hands-on and is very accommodating to the parents’ and students’ needs. This is a Catholic School so it means there are mandatory fundraising events. The school has a high tuition but we believe we are getting our money’s worth. We are investing in our daughter’s education and this school is helping her become into a wonderful citizen.

My child and i love this school and the faculty. All around great experience here. My child has been at his school since TK. No school is perfect, but anytime we have had any issues, they have taken care of it right away.

I used to be a former staff at the grade school. Many of us staff left the school due to complaints from parents or just driven out by the administration. I think parents should learn how to deal with the reality. If your child does not want to learn, then be accountable. It’s really not a good paying job. Teachers do this because they love to teach.

Coming from an alumnus, parent, and community member, the school did its part in establishing Catholic values, creating a safe environment, as well as challenging the students academically. After having read all the reviews, yes I read all the reviews, it seems to me that lots of change has happened. Yes I agree that HVAC was not necessary, but if you looked at other local grade schools, this school was the only one to not have AC in all the classrooms. There were also complaints about bad teachers. Look, the bottom line is that no matter what school you enroll your child in, there will always be bad teachers who absolutely cannot teach. If you complain about that then you should go check yourself. Anyways, the school enriches your child in Catholic values because obviously it is a Catholic school, the school also challenges your child to compete academically and athletically. The message of the school is to allow your child to be a well rounded person going into high school. Tuition is tuition, you cannot do anything about that, and yes I understand that there are extra fees that add up to the costs, however, every private school has those no matter what. But I do agree that there too many fundraisers here, but the money goes into sustaining the school environment or improving it. The school has added a foreign language into the academic mix that will benefit your child going into high school, believe me. For those complaining about the Academic Decathlon team, you have no idea what they have to study. I challenge those who complain about the decathlon team getting an "A" grade easier than the others who are not a part of the team, and study what the decathlon team studies. My child was part of the team studying from 8am-8pm, then did his school homework for two hours, then did another hour of studying for academic decathlon, AND on top of that my child had basketball and volleyball practice. You try memorizing material and balancing out that work load then come back to me. Lastly, as for that case of the girl who was expelled, from what I have heard from other parents, she was the bully, not the bullied. The parents are just seeking for money compensation and someone to blame, ONE YEAR AFTER IT HAPPENED. To the girl's parents, MOVE ON, IT HAS BEEN A YEAR LET IT GO, YOU ARE NOT PAYING TUITION ANYMORE. Anyways, yes send your child here, you won't regret it.

I, like many others here, was a student at this school. My experience was pretty good, but what the others are saying is nothing but the truth. There were great teachers but most of them have left. There were so many mandatory fundraisers. It can be said that money is needed to run the school, but that is not the end. If you are not on the side of the faculty or the principal, then you aren't that well off. As for the girl who got expelled, I do not hold any opinion on that. As many others are pointing out here, the principal basically FORCED us to write reviews about the school and, thus, they had to have good ratings. Look at the reviews on February 19, 2015. We were made to write them. Saying what we truly felt would possibly get us in trouble. I had an okay experience here, but at its current state, I would not recommend this school at all.

I was an alumni of this school. Just like what other people are saying, it's like politics here. Some of the teachers are nice, but others are just plain terrible. Adding onto the faculty and staff, the principal sure is hungry for money. During my time over there, they had so much fundraisers (some that were unnecessarily mandatory) that I was happy I got out. Another thing I don't get; why must this school ask for Clark Magnet's assistance for tutoring when they have a great high school (Holy Family High School) that is literally across the street? (I've heard before that the grade school and the high school have clashed before.)

Teachers come and go. Ineffective 6th grade teacher. Principal looks like and acts like a bulldog always barking out demands and foaming at the mouth when you don't agree with her. She is only concerned about money. Don't let the dog and pony show fool you. This school is known for being able to keep up a good appearance and extending insincere accolades. Yes their academic decathalon team does well because the students are automatically given an A for their school work. Instead of doing their regular school work they are required to study for the Decathalon. The AD coach is overly domineering and controlling to the point where the kids are no longer having fun. Her recitation requirements are unnecessary. There is a teacher in charge of reading these reviews. After a not so positive review she will write a glowing review or force students to write a great review. If you are thinking about sending your child/children here, make sure you have a lot of money in your bank account. There is the tuition then the "extra fees" will be another $3000-$4000.

its a good school still. They will back you up as long as your on there good side. my son got suspended more than 3 times and still graduated. We are loyal to the school and they treat us the same. Im just sorry that others got burned, suspended and one girl got suspended this year. it must be hard but you just have to be on Ms Sueltos good side or when it comes down to it, you may get burned.

The varsity cheer team competed in the world finals in Hawaii, bringing home the championship trophy. These student athletes are a fine representation of the quality education and support of an entire school community. Go Bulldogs- We are all so proud of you!

The graduating class is a classic proof of the school's academic excellence. The 8th graders are only going to outstanding high schools. The spirituality of the children is made tangible in their ways of worship and service. Holy Family Elementary is the best school a family can find in the heart of Glendale!

School is run like a business. There is no diversity amongst the students and a high teacher turnover each year. As a parent, I can't say I ever felt welcomed at this school. At some point I will have to make the decision to change schools despite its convenient location to home and work.

As you can tell, multiple of the reviews are created by the students. These students were chosen to write reviews about the grade school because of their own grade. If they were to write what they actually feel, they might just get in trouble.

Oh my, so many reviews on the same day. Sounds like premeditated planning by school officials. I think the students were extrinsically rewarded to write a review and rave about a coach. This school is decent and run by a decent principal. PROS: Faith based education, many activities and a caring environment for kids. CONS: High teacher turnover rate. A combination of experienced and very inexperienced teachers. Discipline issues should be taken care of discreetly instead of making an entire class feel uncomfortable.

I am a figure skater and train 6 days a week so finding the right school was hard for me. I enrolled in Holy Family in the 3rd quarter and I feel like I started at the beginning of the school year. They did a great job of accommodating to my needs. You will meet a lot friends just like my best friend, Yasmine. All the sports team here work very hard and are very competitive. Just 3 weeks ago, Varsity cheer won 1st place. The teachers and staff are amazing and make you feel welcome. I think this is a great school and you should enroll your kids here. --Current 5th Grader

I am a member of the Academic Junior High Decathlon as an alternate. My experience on the team is truly extraordinary. Our coach Mrs. Ruta devotes 15 hours every week to help us prepare for the actual event. Students themselves do stay until 6:00 but in the end it is all worth it! During scrimmage my decathlete won 2nd place in science and hearing our school's name being called out was probably one of the proudest moments of my life. In conclusion Holy Family Grade School, Glendale is a great school that excells academically and is definitely a school to consider.
