This school has done so much damage to my mental health it's not funny anymore. The teachers, who don't care about their jobs or their kids, grade very late, causing anxiety. I have lost all motivation to do my work because it will either get graded late, because "I have so many other papers to grade I can't do it all at once," or because one of the teachers lost it. I used to be a straight-A student in 6th and early 7th grade, as I tried to look past this and do my best, but why should I try if my teachers won't? On another note, after notifying the school counselor of the fact my private information had been divulged by another student and I wanted that to stop, said counselor blamed it on me because "I should have been more careful," and this student will only get a slap on the wrist. There are many fights, but I don't really have any need to complain about the majority of kids. However, teachers and students consistently overstep boundaries, either physically or mentally by asking inappropriate questions about my home life.

Overall, this school has many opportunities and school programs available. Great teachers and staff. My child was a transfer student from another school and it was a much better fit - staff was great with the integration! Two children later - still a great school!

In the midst of the Covid19 pandemic my middle schooler has been struggling, but her guidance counselor and teachers have been very responsive, helpful and encouraging.

Poor+ to say the least, a private school or another public school would be highly recommended!

This school sucks because the administrator, especially the 8th grade counselor, seem overworked and stressed out. They ignore learning differenced and suggest that your child needs to try harder. I echo the sentiments about homework. It is a dizzing mess. If your child is 100% an independent learning and thrives without any assistance whatsoever, you will be fine. If your child needs anything at all for support, forget about it. I asked a teacher in a parent meeting if he could makre all of the ridicuoulos worksheets they send home with the kids so I can determine what is actually due, he told me "this conversation is over". I did not respond well....but I am the crazy one. This is the male social studies teacher and I will leave it at that. Like I said, if you kid can make it on their own they will be fine, if not, private school is your only option.

Too many kids per teacher. Not effective use of technology. Each teacher has a different site for homework, or doesn't even upload homework.

6/10 as I said before the school year is obviously new with a fresh start but as of last year this is my rating.

We came to this school based on the rating. It's been a huge disappointment and a gigantic mistake. If you're looking at moving into the area I recommend finding a different middle school.

My parents moved to Crofton from Odenton the summer before my 8th grade year. I went to Arundel Middle School prior to coming to Crofton Middle. I am now a senior at Arundel High School. I must say that I was nervous about moving to Crofton Middle at first, but once I got there, I was very impressed. The teachers did their job very well, and the students were very respectful and engaged in the classes well. I am glad I graduated from Crofton Middle and feel very fortunate I did. The only thing I think "sucked" was that we were split between South River and Arundel High School's. I first went to South River High School my freshman year, but then my parents moved to another part of Crofton in the Arundel High attendance zone prior to my 10 grade year, so it was sad switching back and forth between friends. I wanted to stick with them all.

How on earth is this school a 9? It really isn't!! Simple question...why is there such high teacher turnover?

Terrible! Many teachers will teach you a topic a day, and no matter how poorly your comprehension of this topic, will move on. Many teachers are extremey rude and have no respect of your feelings, calling you dumb even. When class is over, there is no hope of getting to your locker, since it takes the whole five to six minutes just to move in the hallways, due to the overcrowding. Overall, I do not suggest this school!

This school is very nice. They have very good staff, principal(s), students, and after school programs. I love this school, they make sure you learn what you re supposed to learn, and if you misbiehave, you get the consequences. Punishments: lunch detenion, afterschool detention, saturday school, suspension, and expulsion. But, if you behave, you will be fine.

I absolutly DO NOT like this school at all!The hallways are way too crowded and i sometimes get slammed against lockers there's hardly any room, theres not even enough classrooms for the teachers and some of my teachers have to roll around a cart b/c of this. and i even have to share my homeroom class with 8th graders. a few of the teachers are cool but a lot are very mean. i even had a teacher, who btw, wasnt even mine, yelled and embaressed me in front of the whole class. i also hear theres a lot of fights. a lot of the kids are kind of mean. and i have very few friends that are a good infulence on my life. thank god im moving this summer!!!

I am totally disappointed with this school. My child has been there for 3 years now and if you have a child who struggles do not look to the admin. to help you because they do not have a clue what is going on. Having said that I have meet with some of the best teachers I could ever hope for it is a real shame that their leadership is so poor. With class sizes of 35:1 in most classes I wonder how much longer those great teachers will last.
