Principal Granado is an extreme disappointment. After graduating Gunstream with such extremely good leadership, Katie’s poor attitude and awful demeanor and truly deplorable leadership has been something that’s simply hard to stomach. The only thing keeping my review above -47 stars is the exemplary teaching staff who have all but advised that they do not follow the leadership of the woman put at the helm. It’s really discouraging and I can not wait for my child to move on to high school, if I do not pull her to home school sooner due to the awful experiences we have had with this principal.

this school is horrible, cockroaches and rats infestation, the new principal is horrible, and the school is just bad overall

Teachers are fantastic but the new principal is the absolute worst. Takes all the joy out of the day. Almost as if she was never a child or ever experienced fun. Just an angry miserable human.

The no bullying tolerance is actually tolerated more than they want the public to know. Students who steal, or assault other kids are punished with a slap on the wrist.

A great school! The students are very welcoming and the teachers are great help for students. I love this school and the foundation is all great. 10/10 recommended

I am a 6th grader and I really like Wester because the teachers are nice and their food that they have is very awesome.

Wasn't bad overall, class of 26' for graduation. Teachers were pretty nice overall (except for Coach Mills, tennis teacher, absolutely horrifying and never actually teachers anything.) Would recommend for most people unless you hate the smell of sweat during passing period.

Some of the teachers - especially some of the 8th grade teachers are unfair and are really rude. They stress me out so much and they give you way to much pressure to do work. In the8th grade hall, frisco isd is making you only have 4 bathroom passes per class in the whole entire 9 weeks. That may be fine for boys, but girls have periods and it is unfair to the girls because we cant control what time of the month we have it.

Maybe it's the high number of newer teachers this year, but I'm extremely disappointed with the talent, professionalism, and competency of the staff. There are a handful of teachers that are good educators; they understand their students and their content. A majority of them are there to dispense content, and if a student needs additional help or doesn't get it, there will be little to no assistance from the teacher. Their "bank" system is really just an opportunity for teachers to punish kids they don't like and reward the already high achievers. I heard a speaker say, if you don't give compliments, you shouldn't offer criticism. Unfortunately, too many teachers are free with the criticism and belittle students, instead of trying to help them become better students and citizens. I'm also amazed at the lack of professionalism in communication. Teachers will often not include a greeting or a closing in their email; which is an indicator of lack of respect. Sometimes, they don't actually include text in their reply, they just send an attachment or forward another email. Overall, I would never recommend this school to anyone.

Overall this is an unfriendly school which does not serve its students or families well. Bullying is an issue - but the worst bullying at Wester comes from teachers who are unkind, unhelpful, egotistical and arrogant. With a few wonderful exceptions, the administration and staff are smug and entitled. I have found very few good teachers at this school - don't be fooled, Wester kids' standardized test scores are good because of elementary school preparation and support from home. The classroom teaching is below par. I would not recommend this school to anyone who is looking for an academic challenge in a healthy community setting.

Overall, it's been a fantastic experience for my daughter. She entered the 8th grade this year, and she can't wait to get to school every morning! The teachers are extremely attentive, and everyone is taught the value of hard work and teamwork, and I'm continuously surprised by how much she has grown as a student and a person. There is no doubt in my mind that she is equipped to tackle any challenges as she graduates next year and moves on to high school and beyond.

I am currently a 7th grade student at Wester and I have to say it is a pretty good school. Nobody really bullies, maybe some people do but it gets taken care of. There are a lot of "dirty" students in the 7th grade, if you know what I mean. All the teachers are nice, except one kind of just slacks off and just tells us to do stuff. My favorite subject is science because of my teacher, Ms. Delozier! She is the nicest teacher and is super nice, and a great teacher! I have a 98 in her class! Also, being a band student, Wester has the best band directors. I play flute and I absolutely love band! The students are kind of stuck-up and they all wear like Uggs, Vans, Pink, and stuff like that so it kind of pressures the people that don't have that expensive stuff that "Oh your not cool unless you have this brand". Overall, I love Wester, and I feel at home here. I would recommend this school to anybody.

This was not a great experience. The kids are not friendly at all. The band teacher was terrible and ruined my sons confidence. Add to this getting in and out of there is a nightmare.

I am very pleased with the teachers and staff at Wester Middle. My kids did very well, and with the help of many caring teachers they succeeded nicely. They are now at Centennial High and can't be any happier. Great School.
