I have 3 kids attending this school with one matriculating (to middle school) already. Gunstream is highly multiracial (and has always been) with students from very diverse backgrounds and cultures (many moving directly to the US from Turkey, Korea, India, Russia as an example). As a very highly active parent at this school for many years, I can say this group of administrators and teachers do put in a lot of time and effort into the students to ensure each student has an appropriate level of academic rigor as well as the appropriate level of support. I can say I know all of my students primary teachers very well as well as many of the supporting speech and dyslexia teachers and have a substantial amount of respect for the work they perform (e.g. Read a Dyslexia AARD Report, just WOW!). I am very proud that my children can grow up with students from vastly different cultures, first languages, religions and belief systems. There are local schools that are vastly different in terms of racial makeup (predominantly one race or another) which would not give them this experience so early in life. I also want to shout out to Principal Smolka who is retiring at the end of this year after 20+ years (since the beginning) at Gunstream. We will miss you so much! Also another shout out to Ms. Hay who retired recently but still substitutes regularly. You are an absolute blessing and an amazing person!

have 2 kids attending Gunstream and they love it. we think the teachers give a lot of communication. my kids are learning new things everyday. Had one incident about race but that was between the students and was taken care of immediately by the school and information came quickly to my family.

As a past educator myself, I've loved our experience at Gunstream. The administrative staff has been wonderful. The PTA is full of parents that love the school, neighborhood and children. Proud to be Gunstream Wildcat!

My daughter has been at Gunstream since kindergarten and now she is a 5th grader. It's a great school with caring teachers. Our experience has been terrific. My son started Gunstream in 4th grade when we moved here from Florida and he really learned, matured and made great friends in the two years he was there. I would recommend the school to everyone.

We're going on our third year now at Gunstream and so far have been pleased. The staff and teachers are great, the facilities clean and in good shape. The curriculum is mandated by the district and IMO not very challenging but not easy either. My child scores above average on math and reading for his grade level, so no complaints there. My complaints--they don't really teach handwriting, for example--is a FISD issue, not individual schools. The PTA is very active and there is plenty for parents to get involved with--classroom helper, room mom, etc.--without having to join. All in all, pleased with Gunstream!

Gunstream is horrible! My sons 3rd grade teacher has retired and his fourth grade teachers give him detention if he laugh because another kid farts! But what's worse, is he's been injured 3 times there, I have the photos to prove it, large gashes and they never called me! The fourth grade teaches ar the worst! No talking at lunch or the halls, i've been there at lunch. I've never seen 32 kids soooo silent!!!! while the teachers were glaring at them. The teachers complain about everything! Leaning on a kid, looks sick and wouldn't participate, do not send your child here!!! You'll regret it! I've taught! This is the worst school ever!
