While the school building itself is new and the technology is state of the art, I am disappointed in the quality of academic education before, during and after COVID-19. The lack of care, moral and compassion from the teachers to actually do their job or go above and beyond for a child is probably the saddest thing to watch other than the mind of my kid wilt like a forgotten flower.

I’m no happy what’s so ever with this school. The majority of the staff at this school are very unhappy and do not seem to care about the children. There are so many children in each classroom and no assistants.

Our child was in this school for 1st and 2nd grade. The first grade teacher had very good communication with us, was always approachable , and our child learned and did very well. The second grade was a completely different story as far as our the teacher's effectiveness , communication, and our child's progress. Without going into details, it took us working with our child a lot over the summer to catch her up to where she needed to be in reading and math once we moved from there. That being said, there are some good teachers at this school and there are ones who could use better mentorship. Hopefully the change of administration has fostered a better school environment and relationship with parents. We perceived that parents were not seen as a partner in their child's education and were not treated with respect. If you are stationed at Fort Irwin, this school is your one choice or you homeschool. Also, the school lets out early once a week every single week. Although we've heard other schools at other duty stations do this, this is our 5th different public school district and our first experience with that.

This school was great! I loved my daughters teacher for 2nd grade Ms. Popp. She was excellent. The only thing was that the office staff seemed disgruntled to me. The secretary seemed bothered most of the time.Other than that it was great!

The school was placed on lockdown on Wednesday, 8/27. No notification was sent out to parents. Parents arrived at school with no idea the school was on lockdown and were not allowed to retrieve their children. I went into the cafeteria to see what was going on and was then told we couldn't leave. The principal never sent out an all call message to notify parents what was going on. (when the other schools on post did) About 2 hours later, once children were all home, she sent out a very condescending message stating that she did not want to make a call until all students were accounted for (how long does it take a teacher to count their students?). I've had other dealings with this principal over the past 3 years and in each and every instance she has been rude and condescending to me. After speaking with other parents this week, I found out she's treated them the same way. It's very unprofessional and because of it she is not respected amongst the parents.

I don't know how this school can get a 9 out of 10 as it's rating when not too long ago we were getting letters home that the school was on academic probation for poor test scores and in danger of losing it's accreditation. My son started first grade at Lewis and was tested at the beginning of the school year as advanced for his age. He was tested again at the end of the school year and his test scores dropped to mediocre. It's extremely disheartening to send your child to school so they can go down in intelligence. If you want your children receiving a quality education, look into homeschooling or online public schools.

I love this school it's small and you really feel like the kids are safe and really cared for here. My daughter had Miss Freund for kindergarten and she was awesome! She had my little girl reading and doing math problems by the end of the year. We are going to miss her and can't wait for first grade.

My son attends Transitional Kindergarten and loves it. His teacher is a wondeful caring teacher. He has an IEP and it has been helping him out with his issues. The principal is very involved with the care of the students. I do not like the size of the classes (30+ students per 1 teacher) but there are many parents that help in the class. I like this school very much.

We have not been happy with this school. The majority of the staff at this school just seem to be very unhappy and do not seem to care about the children. There are so many children in each classroom and no assistants. The school has a behavior system in place called the "rainbow chart" that does not seem to work for many kids. If you have a special needs child (we do) you really have to advocate. There are many services that my daughter had on her IEP that were actually taken off when we transferred to this school. Her speech sessions were stopped last year for over two months due to a staffing problem and the school did not even inform us, our daughter did. That being said, the kindergarten reading program is awesome and really helped my daughter learn to read quickly. The math curriculum is awful and it seems the school focuses much more on reading. My daughter is almost done with first grade and the class has not began working on telling time and has not finished working on basic addition and subtraction for #'s 0 - 20. There seems to be a lot of homework, especially math, because the teachers don't cover it all at school. My 1st grader has 60 mins. each night.
