i was bullied ever single day of my time here. The teachers do not care whatsoever and the kids use horrible language . i would rate this 1/2, but i can't

Please pay attention to your kids if they are struggling, my child asked 2 of his teachers for help during the pandemic and he was told they don't have time. The following year my child realized he was going to have that very same teacher, he told me he wasn't going to school! I couldn't believe it was this bad that my child left all of his friends because of this one teacher! It was very sad he had to take such a stance for his own education. I thought maybe he was just saying that, gave him a couple of days emailed the principal...to this day I haven't gotten 1 response or apology. The staff said they were short on teachers nothing they could do! So my son was transferred to a different school where he thrived all A's and B's again! It's sad there are some teachers and principals who would ignore the damage and negative impact they cause children. I was more disappointed in the principal as I thought she was more of an honest upfront woman who seemed reasonable with communication we have had in the past. A simple response would have been professional.

One of my child is in this school under the G&T program. I find that this school was not as great as another school that my other child had gone under the G&T program. We recently took an assessment test from an after-school academic program and my child scored 21 out of 100 on their 3rd grade math and English placement. The average score was 72 for those 3rd graders. This shows that this school is lacking something that other schools were teaching, and my child is on the G&T program with grades 3 and 4! My other child who just started middle school and made it to the honors program scored in the 95% tile in his grade on that placement test. We also found out the current teacher from ps214 did not even grade or look at the homework. Cant wait for this year to finish, and transfer back to my zones school, with or without the G&T program. My other child who was in another G&T program learned so much more from the other school compared to my child from PS 214. It was like night and day. The other school taught my child to use Microsoft words, excel and powerpoint at grade 3, and homework was done using those programs. PS 214, NADA.. They don't even have a proper music program! No instruments! How can PS214 say they have a music program with out instruments. It is a smaller school, but class size is still NYC standard. 30-32 kids per class.

Our child has really flourished at PS 214. She started kindergarten at another elementary school with over 1500 kids, which was ridiculous. She was overwelmed there. We got her into PS 214 in the G&T program, and her behavior/attitude/interest has increased 100%. The school is small (under 500 kids), so the other teachers and guard know the kids by names, and are able to relate to them better. The school is quiet, in a quiet neighborhood.
