What keeps this school afloat are the dedicated and thoughtful teachers. Every teacher I have interacted with was kind, qualified and genuinely cared about their students. However, when it comes to the management of this program I unfortunately can not say the same. The director of the Flushing YMCA UPK program is incompetent and unorganized. In my conversations with her she was rude and dismissive of my concerns. I honestly do not know how she has her job. How fortunate that she has great teachers working alongside her, which is the only reason why I decided to keep my child enrolled in their program.

My son attended their UPK program last year & it was one of the most disorganized school I've ever seen. They had 2 classrooms with 1 teacher & 1 assistant each & none of them were qualified to teach. Furthermore, 2 of the teachers were fired in the middle of the year & the 2 assistants ended up teaching for the remainder. The Director of the learning center is completely useless & does not care no matter how much you complain. Do yourself a favor & do not enroll your kid here

This was a good place for my daughter to attend UPK last year. She learned a lot of new skills like writing her name and the teachers and staff were friendly and welcoming.
