This webpage for McLaurin is unfortunately out-dated. This school is wonderful and my children have been going there for 4yrs. McLaurin is a public MONTESSORI school that is a BSRE (Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence) LIGHTHOUSE SCHOOL. It is quite an achievement to get that prestigious honor. The school teaches grades 3K-5, has 900+ students, multiple playgrounds, an outdoor community garden to teach about growing plants & vegetables and healthy eating, every child (from 5K+) has their own Chromebook to work on & bring home at night, and the Montessori education model is hands down, THE BEST. Every time I visit my children's classrooms, I am blown away by the lessons and approach to teaching. I WISH I was taught this way when I was in school. All the teachers have smiles on their faces, the office staff is always helpful, the principal and vice principals who work so hard are just as helpful and caring to the parents as they are to the kids. My kids are getting an amazing education here and I would recommend this school to anyone moving to Florence, SC!

We love Mclaurin. The whole staff is so sweet and friendly. The teachers and assistants are hands down the most caring and are focused on helping our kids excel in every area.

They need new staff, a lot of the teachers are nasty towards african American children and a lot of the teachers are not prepared teachers at all.

Love this school! My son is in the Montessori program and he loves it. His teachers are awesome and make sure you are aware of what your child is doing from day to day!!

My daughter started in the Montessori program this year in 5K. My husband and I love this school. The principal is one of the best and you can tell she really cares about the kids...all of them. I'm amazed at what my daughter has learned this year. She is reading so well, her math skills are much farther along that my son (who attended a private school for 5K) and she has developed mature life skills, such as pouring her own drink, fixing her own food, cleaning up after herself, and more. We've had wonderful teachers here!
