The school could be worse. There seem like a lot of programs are intended more for the show of it rather than helping students.

Briggs is one of the oldest, but one of the BEST schools in Florence. I have been so impressed with the Leader in Me program and how they are teaching our children to become the successful leaders of their generation. The administration and staff are wonderful and I have seen them go above and beyond for these kids. I volunteer at this school every week and I am always welcomed with a smile. It’s not just a job for these teachers; they take care of these kids. We are all one big Briggs Family!

Briggs has been a blessing to my children. They have been allowed to flourish and find their talents. Even the youngest of children have found their leadership roles here. Some of the best teachers and administrators around work at Briggs!

At Briggs they use Google Classroom and Leader in Me. Farm to School as a related art class with chickens and raised beds growing vegetables and fruit. The kids run the composting. Briggs is fully staffed with excellent teachers, special education teachers, speech therapists and occupational therapists that know the children. It’s a great school all around!

Briggs Elementary does a great job in preparing students to be leaders and stakeholders within the school community. Everyday responsibilities are given to students in the attempt to give them opportunities to lead others, instead of being led by adults.

AWESOME!!!! My son transferred to Briggs his sixth grade year. He was welcomed by students and teachers. He was given many opportunities to participate within the school day that allowed him to grow as an individual. I always felt welcomed by the teachers as well as the staff members. The principal and assistant principal were always available and made sure the students were given every opportunity to excel. Briggs is a "Leader In Me" School which helps create well-rounded learners by developing the whole-person and preparing students to become life-ready leaders. Students are given responsibilities and opportunities in every aspect of the school day. Morning show, classroom jobs, school wide jobs, even afternoon announcements were made by the students. The students were given more ownership of the school. My child stated on many occasions how much he loved being apart of Briggs Elementary even if it was only for one year.

Terrible. The principal, assistant principal, and some teachers play favorites. The children of the administrators and teachers are given preferential treatment while the children from disadvantaged backgrounds are ignored. This school is exclusionary and fosters bullying and it is a direct result of the girl’s club atmosphere fostered by the principal.

Excellent! The students feel loved and appreciated. Teachers love the students and work hard to see them succeed.

After coming from a school where I was more than welcomed to be involved, I felt quite judged here. I saw other parents being welcomed by my child's teacher while I was ostracized. I had to be forceful in a sense to be able to have the minimal amount of involvement. I was supposed to be a "room mom" and all that I got from that was, "I will call you if I need anything, like I said before" from the teacher every time I asked about helping. I never got any calls. Granted this is only one teacher, I felt similar treatment within APT. It was like my outcasted high school experience all over again.
