What stands out at RFIS first are the wonderful principals. They truly go above and beyond to ensure students safety and emotional well being. The school's class III officer is phenomenal, heavily engaged with the students and friendly with the parents everyday. Those are things you do not experience at most schools. The school includes a diverse group of kids from different backgrounds. Regarding special education; every member of the child srudy team (teachers, SLP, and case manager) are very involved in creating your child's IEP and value parents input. The district has a great superintendent. The only negative about the school is the overwhelming number of students in each grade, and its impact on the teachers.

1/10 horrible. Principal at the time told me “you’re street smart, but not book smart”(this was in 2005-06) I carry that comment with me. I believe her name was Jessica Kilgore

Over the past two years I have found the office staff at the intermediate school to be rude and unkind. This is the communities school not their school. A smile and nice word goes a long way. I wish I could say this is just my observation, but it is not.

In a district with so many great schools, it s a pity to experience one that just fails to meet all expectations. RFIS may do okay with mainstream children, but fails miserably for those kids who may learn differently. Of course, it's easy to teach kids without challenges, the key to differentiating a school of excellence is the ability to teach ALL students. It's shameful to throw away so much talent just because it doesn't fit into the mold of the standardized test based curriculum, where the biggest concern is if the school met their metrics and teacher ratings. What happened to the key objective of learning?
