Barnes is always about STUDENTS first. They don't over emphasize standardized testing. The staff cares about the students and meets them where they are at. It's a small community school with heart and character.

Negative. Glad to be out. Child was not individually helped to learn when problems arose.

If you want your child to receive a good education, be engaged, and respected, send your child to this school. Another thing we noticed that was different from the other school my child attended, we didn't constantly have to raise money, sell stuff, pay for an extremely high amount of stuff. The other school he went to was constantly raising money but never doing anything fun for the kids. This school rewards their kids for their hard work. We LOVED this school and this school year. My son did a 360, went from a C student to mostly A's and from hating to read to loving to read. Teachers do make a difference....

I totally disagree with the statement below, my daughter shared a class where the teachers daughter was in the same class and she taught and treated everyone the same. Maybe your too sensitive. I mean come on if THAT is your only"worry" then I'd ask why because it doesnt make sense! Flat rock schools are awesome plain and simple! Love the staff, the community and everything they offer. My kids (4) are all in different schools in FR and they feel safe and comfortable to learn!! That'd be my main worry. (if I had one) Not favoritism.

Excellent school with nice workers in the office. Teachers are above average. The only big concern i hold ; along with a few other mothers; is that there are teachers who are allowed to teach their own child in their class. I am very suprised; and dissapointed to see the Flat Rock Boards would even allow that. It is un-fair to other children in the class; and favoritism on SOME level is a no-brainer! which makes it very un-fair to all other students. Flat Rock School Board; I am very dissapointed you would even allow that. Does not look good for Barnes Elemantary"s name.Thumbs Down for that. That policy needs to change; plain and simple.

It was great to see the community support a bond proposal years ago to fund the remodeling which needed to be done. In addition to the remodels, technology upgrades help our students compete and learn. From our family's three year experience with this school, we have seen a highly motivated staff which provides individual instruction, attention and extra help to those who need it. It's sad to hear negative stories, but the truth is that there are many families trying to get into these great schools- the community supports limited open enrollment so that class size does not get out of control.

The classrooms are overcrowded with unmotivated teachers. Was truly a disservice to my daughter! Staff was more concerned with "numbers" than what was best for my child ~ DISGUSTING! District complains of not having enough money to fund the yearly budget, yet EVERY school is getting remodeled. Commonsense ~ if you can't make your house payment, you don't go out and buy a new car! It was so horrendous, we left mid year. Do yourself and your child a favor and find a BETTER SCHOOL!
