Please read this if you even think about sending your child to Erath. I'm currently going to this school, and as for someone who has had relatives who go there, and has asked them or their opinion on this too, this school is not worth it. The teachers, more often than not, don't care about what you (as a student) or what your child has to say. To be frank, there is only maybe about two or three teachers who actually treat their students with respect, and care about their opinion. I have often experienced the teacher's angry personalities, in which, most seem to have a superiority complex. They commonly yell to you, or your child if they need help, and a lot don't even try to assist if extra help is needed. Not to mention, that not specifically this school, but this whole parish has a problem of oversexualizing girls with the limited dress code that the girls have on the days they can wear free dress. Another problem, that still goes unnoticed by most is the bullying. Here at this school, it seems like if you move, and join this school late, you are an outcast. You can tell a teacher about any of the bullying, and if that teacher does not tell the principle, then the problem seems to go unnoticed. Along with the bad bullying problem, a lot of the boys, mostly found in football, are known to be EXTREMLY homophobic, transphobic, and racist. This is a major problem for the black community and the LGBT community. Lastly i would like to acknowledge the overall look, and schedule of the school. First, there is only a 30-minute lunch. With the number of kids that are in that school, and the short lunch time, most kids have to eat in their classes. This does not give them much of a break, like lunch time is supposed to do. This can cause a lot of stress for the kids attending the school. This, for a school, or any place, is not acceptable

Please read this if you are considering enrolling at EHS. This school proudly boasts it is the number one high school in the state yet no google search can back up these claims. (I’m still looking into the validity of them myself). As of January 2020 the school’s majority of classrooms take place in old portal buildings that are falling apart and not kept up. I have had two classes (facs1 this year & ag1 last year) with mice in closets. The school does not pay their cafeteria employees enough to enjoy a fair lifestyle thus they quit early and students eat the bare minimum of food in brown bag lunches due to a short staff. Some students will not eat at all because of bad experiences of students with lunch debts getting to eat and others with debts who are turned away. The classes are often not what you believe they are when you sign up for them, for example I wanted to learn how to cook so I signed up for foods and nutrition but a week ago I had to have a parent sign a permission slip to take a 6 week course in business instead. And when I had raised my concerns to school faculty they would not make time to hear anything I had to say. This is not the first time this has happened. The faculty does not seem to care about students. There are only a small handful of teachers I’ve had since freshman year that I’m thankful to have met. The school itself is primarily white with few other races. The school focuses the majority of its attention on catering to the football team and severely limits the budgets for other sports which is a real shame. The faculty certainly picks favorites only caring about the best and brightest students and not considering anyone else’s claims to be valid or worth time to listen to. It takes bringing in a parent for the principal to take anything you say seriously. Growing up in Erath I’m very disappointed to see the decline of EHS.

I only had one of my children attend this school. He didn't have a good experience. He witnessed teachers talking down to students (you're not going to do anything good with your life). He tried to help a teacher by saying that she was on the wrong page and he got fussed at saying, "don't correct an adult". He was suspended for 2 days for slamming his books on the desk. The previous day I got a letter saying that he was missing quality educational time by being tardy (but being suspending wouldn't affect that?) The front desk would never greet me when I approached the desk. I find as being a newcomer to Erath they treat you like an outsider. If you weren't born and raised here then you don't belong (I've been told this by others also.) I never meet friendly, helpful people.

This school has achieved so much for being in such a small town! The school s performance score of 140.8 a nearly 20-point improvement over the prior year has it labeled an A+ school and ranked as the top nonselective public school in the state, according to Louisiana Department of Education rankings. It is awesome how truly dedicated the teachers of Erath High are in their work with their students! They don't give up until their students excel! Some of the programs implemented at Erath like mandatory tutoring either after school or during lunch for failing students and daily in-school tutoring, called intervention, that targets students who are falling behind in a course. Schools all over the state are getting ideas from Erath High School of how to help their students succeed! The parent and community involvement at this school is a main cause to the school's success! The administration knows how to make school fun and a place their students want to be.
