My daughter has been bullied to the point where she refuses to go to the high school. The staff's solution is to change her schedule to make she has no classes with the bullies instead of holding them accountable for their actions. They are still going to her bully between classes and at lunch etc. We are in the process of moving her to a different school because of this. When my son was struggling academically because of his learning disability instead of helping him they shoved him to their "alternative high school" like he was a dirty little secret or something. He did graduate but with very ow self esteem do to how he was treated by the teachers and school staff and how his situation was handled.As some else on here said they only care about students who are in sports and the students whose parents happen to be teachers or staff. The "average joe" kids like my daughter don't seem to really matter to them unless they are absent on "count day".

This was once a desirable school district. It has taken a slide since the previous Superintendent retired.

We moved to the area about 5 years ago from downstate. I can only tell you that I am thrilled with Elk Rapids Schools. The education my children receive is best I have experienced at all levels from elementary school to high school. The teachers and principals are great. I researched schools before moving and I so happy I decided on Elk Rapids for my family.

I had been going to Elk Rapids school district my entire life. Ever since I can remember it has been full of drugs and the main staff only want to help the sport teams. They only care about students if they are on a sports team, such as football or basketball, and could careless about those in the drama department or choir. The send all students they don't like to their alternative high school. They don't care about the students, only their ratings.
