Poor communication between staff and parents. Almost zero. It’s essentially glorified babysitting for homeschool parents who don’t want to homeschool themselves to outsource.Kids have fun, but learning is subpar.

Waterhouse Guild is a lovely little school with teachers who genuinely care about engaging children in learning. Giving children the gift of a wonderful school experience is incredibly important and is literally a gift that keeps giving back to them (and parents) throughout their entire life. My child loves going to school. Set up a tour, meet the teachers, see the space and materials. It will not impress you with how new and shiny everything is, instead the dedication of the teachers and their joy for teaching children will shine through.

My daughter was not thriving at the school her brother attends. I realized the school my son was thriving in wasn't the right fit for my daughter. My daughter is now thriving at Waterhouse Guild! We found the right fit! She needed a smaller class size and a different class environment. The language arts program is amazing! My daughter has found her voice and her writing blows me away! In my opinion, Waterhouse Guild is a little gem. My best advice, go for a tour. Send your child in for a shadow day. It's a school experience no website or review can fully explain!

We LOVE WATERHOUSE in every way!! Waterhouse has AMAZING tiny teacher-student ratios (around 1:6!!) and the most caring, devoted teachers imaginable. Their language, arts and literature programs are unparalleled. Students dive deeply into subjects, and student original ideas and thinking are truly nurtured and celebrated. We were stanch public school supporters until Fall 2020 when we transitioned to Waterhouse because of the public school's COVID-19 response plans. We will never return to public, our 2 girls have found their true academic home at Waterhouse.

We are in our second year and could not be more pleased that they look at the whole student - intellectual, spiritual, and social-emotional aspects of each individual. They encourage curiosity, critical thinking, exploration, kindness, all of the foundations on which a life education should be built.

Our experience has been fantastic. Our children came from another highly-respected private school, and yet Waterhouse Guild has been a huge step up in terms of academic engagement, achievement, and overall happiness with school. Waterhouse makes learning fun; they develop the whole child; they teach in an interdisciplinary way; they teach excellent writing skills; and they support the unique gifts of each child. It’s an amazing environment.

This is a small school environment where teachers and staff work together to form a thriving community of learning.

Poor and learned from alumni parents that their children were significantly behind in their academics except writing. They do have a good writing skills program.

Overall, this school could have been great, but the director kept making bad decisions-and like the other reviewer said, some of the best teachers have left.

A couple of years ago it was great learning and environment. Unfortunately, the mission, administration, and curriculum have changed. The Principal/Director is not transparent, and somewhat of a bully herself who won't even listen to the advice of her staff. Things have definitely changed. She has managed to recently place staff/teachers/mentors with little experience and who in some cases, lacking child development skills. Some of the top teachers have given up and left. The caliber of teachers and community atmosphere has diminished. It is a shame because they were a great alternative to public schooling. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend Waterhouse Guild.

My experience was not the best. Admittedly it wasn’t a good fit for my situation, but the education system here is lacking. I was the only one in my grade (7th) and the nearest to me was in 5th grade. I was required to work at a 5th grade level for a majority of the year and wasn’t paid attention to when asking for help when separate from the class. Hopefully you can fit in better if this school is your choice.

Amazing personalized education with differentiation across the board. Kids are taught how to learn not simply taught to the test. If you are looking for top notch academics in a nurturing environment this is the place to be.
