I have 3 kids at this school and was a little hesitant because of the rating, however it has been a really great school. We are a military family and have had our children in schools all over the country that ranked much higher than this school, but you cannot beat that small class size and community feel. All the staff know all the children and really care about meeting their educational needs. I have one that needed an IEP and it was initiated and put in place very fast. I am very pleased with the quality of education my children are getting here. My children run up the steps to class every morning because they are so excited to start the day.

Wonderful rural feeling school close to El Cajon. Small class sizes and a staff that is concerned about the students.

This school should just be shut down with so many things falling through the cracks and the teachers quitting free the school year the type of teachers that replace them are awful no kid learns it's just a complete joke

This has been our Elementary School of choice in El Cajon for 10 years. My oldest was there K-5 and she started high school this year. In Honors classes i may add. I still have 2 at Dehesa and its a good small school with a very warm country family feel.

While the middle school may not be great, dehesa is a wonderful place for kids. From my experience, and I spent about 8 years at dehesa, it was a very stable and comforting enviroment. I am not a native america or funding the school. Yet I felt accepted and loved my whole time . I was never bullied, and was friends with everyone. Even the 6th graders knew every single one of the kindergartners by name. The teachers were wonderful, and took the time to know us individually. In the middle school I am now attending, I have two honors classes. My early years with dehesa have help significantly to prepare me for the rest of my education. So in my honest oppinion, dehesa is a great school.

Dehesa is a terrible school, it should be shut down , there is constant bullying, that they do nothing about, there have been numorous improper situations that they cover up, children are mistreated , the staff are extremely bias , if you aren't Native American and funding there school, or low income your child and their education are the least of their concern,if you want your child to strive, and succeed, do not put your child in this school,

Dehesa is one of the best schools I have ever seen. They have a strong stance against bullying, wonderful and plentiful field trips, unique lesson plans, common core and project based learning, a small amount of students (everyone knows everyone), a wonderful parent support community, a loving and caring principal, an abounding GATE program that runs a festival every year, and a beautiful environment out in the country. Although, this site does not say that there is a current Junior High (which there is). The middle school contains a wonderful archery program run by a certified archery teacher, all the latest and greatest archer equipment, weekly golf and disk golf lessons at Syquan, a beautiful cascading lawn filled with many shady trees around the middle school classrooms, EXTREMELY small class sizes, community project groups, innovative chess elective that go to various tournaments across San Diego area, a very talented countywide speller, and so much more. There are only 12 people in my daughter's grade. The test scores are low yet they have come over many obstacles including the fact that 70% of all students are on the free and reduced lunch program!
