We have really appreciated our interactions with administration. We are excited about new opportunities to partner with the school through the PTA. We have loved the teachers we’ve gotten so far!

This is an excellent school by far. The test scores are not a Great indicator of what you will receive from this school. I grew up in a very poor area and in a trailer without running water or electricity. I graduated and was more than prepared for college. I was so prepared that I got a Master's Degree. This school has the same things I had back then, EXCELLENT TEACHERS!! If I need to further break it down for you. If you watch TMZ Live one of the guys there has a college degree from Harvard and several of the other staff member's have college degrees from lesser known schools. If you look closely at them they are all in the Same Place doing the same jobs. Now think about that! Great School!

I am an involved father and volunteer at my children's school. They staff, administrators and teachers go above and beyond to teach, inspire, care for, and love the children at this school. The potential and growth is unmeasurable here and I CHALLENGE every Father to register to become a Volunteer and let's prepare our sons and daughters to be Great Men and Women.

I feel like the teachers and staff care very much for the children here. I don't think that they are given enough resources and are doing very well for what is provided to them. The students are overall tested too much and this in turns leads to the teachers not having enough time to actually teach. It does not make sense to have 22 students or more in one class and share one teacher assistant per two classrooms. Imagine having to spend every day of your work life, constantly on the edge with having to be tested on things you have just been taught. I would think this would cause anxiety at the least. When is the learning actually done? Please keep supporting this school and its instructors. There is always a chance to make things that don't appear fantastic to others better. This school is one of those chances and should be given ample opportunity as other appropriately funded schools.Thank you,A concerned Parent

My two children both attend Oak Grove. It has the outward appearance of a good public school: Good neighborhood, wealthy parents, well behaved children. What they teach at Oak Grove is confusing and often meaningless not at all designed to prepare your children for success in the future. If you are interested in children who regurgitate core curriculum, memorize facts and help the school improve test scores, then you are in the right place. If you child does not fit this mold, good luck getting help. They are parsimonious about doling out resources for special needs children. The Special Ed teacher seems to be illiterate with a computer, but what she lacks in technology she more than WAY makes up for in her ability to interact with the children, so that is good. The teachers make good efforts to be helpful, but when the going gets tough, they are pawns to administration. The school is limited w/technology. They don't seem at all inclined to update use of technology or even utilize valuable parent IT resources on a volunteer basis. To this parent, it is a reflection of poor Principal leadership. I wish the PTA would raise funds for iPads or something actually useful!

I was worried about sending my son to this school because of the rating, but it has turned out wonderfully.

My son is finishing his first year in Kindergarten and it was great. His teacher was Ms. Whitney. I can say I had my doubts about my son entering into the DPS school system but I worked closely with his teacher and she always had a very organized plan for my sons class. It allowed me to see his progress and know what he accomplished through the year. I enjoyed the interaction from the school because they kept me aware of activities and my sons achievement.
